So my little old lady friend comes up to me yesterday "if you help me do laundry, I'll give you $5."

So I help with laundry yesterday... At the end I say "Where's my $5?"

She says "I have more laundry tomorrow, when it's all finished you get paid."

So I help with laundry today... And at the end she's like "I got more laundry tomorrow, see you tomorrow!"

My husband's like "your doing more than $5 in work!"

I guess that $5 was a lot of money back in her time.

^ I wondered the same thing; whether she's maybe struggling a little bit with senility, and thought that $5 pocket money was fair for a week's worth of laundry duty without quite making it clear that this is what she thought the arrangement was, or maybe a token gesture for what she perceives as a neighbourly favour.

Anyone who does laundry knows that it's a job than can never be completed unless you have one outfit or don't change your clothes regularly.

Personally I would just explain that you thought it was a one day affair.

Don't spend your five dollars all at once.

Then I was taking a nap and she knocks on the door "I got more clothes than I thought..."

So now I'm in the laundry room again and she says there is still more tomorrow... I've been in the laundry room most of the day now...

People will take advantage of people with a good nature and it's very difficult to be assertive without sounding like a dick ( well it is for me )

She is taking you to the cleaners.

She gave me a candy bar today... The down payment lol

If your laundry machines are as expensive as they are at our laundromat, she had to spend the $5 she was gonna give you & can no longer afford to give you that $5. How else can she afford to do her laundry everyday. She really needs to spend that $5 on some cheap cloths so she wouldn't have to do laundry all the time. We only go to the laundromat 2wice a month because of how much of a hassle it is. We do a lot at a time thou.

The laundry machines in this building don't cost much... Anyway she calls my phone early in the morning, waking me up...

"Aren't you going to help me today?"

I had to tell her she called me way to early and I haven't even woke up yet... She's like "Okay, I'll call you later"

Uggghhh

She might be assuming that you are leased to her for a week(month??)for a fiver.
Tell her you thought it was five dollars an hour.Hand her a bill for it.Maybe she will take the hint.

Charge her 5 dollars per day you have helped her and tell her she needs to pay you the back pay she owes you and she needs to pay you in advanced from here on out if she wants your help. Otherwise, she can take a hike. She is taking advantage of your good nature.

I'm really sleepy today so I had my husband help her with the last load of clothes. She handed me 5 dollars and my husband one dollar... Then my husbands like "walk to the store and buy a bunch of pop right now!" (He's a popaholic) and I'm tired of this crap and I'm like "I did three days of laundry for 5 dollars and now you're going to tell me how to spend it and to spend it on you? That's not fair!" Anyway my husband does this all the time too... He spent all his money this month already leave mine alone

Aren't you... notoriously... made use of?
