Decide how much you want to save per week from your income. Have that sent as an automatic payment into another bank. Throw away the card to that second bank so you have to physically go in there with ID to get your money out instead of it being readily available on your card or internet banking

Put loose change in a jar

take a daily amount like $20 or so and put what’s left at night in a jar

After a period of time put half in the bank and use other half to treat yourself to something special.

When we quit smoking we put that money in a jar and when it was full bought something frivolous thinking it was better than damaged body parts and reminder of how that would have gone up in smoke

Always pay your credit card bills off completely when you receive them.

Buy clothing off season. In the fall buy the summer clothes that are put on sale. In the springtime buy the winter clothes put on sale.

If possible learn to repair the items (appliances, vehicles, machinery) yourself and buy items that are highly reliable and designed to be repaired easily. For example, years ago Maytag produced clothes washers and dryers that were designed to be repaired easily. I purchased a Maytag washer in 1986. It has broken down several times throughout the years, but I fix it and it keeps running. I go to appliance repair shop and order parts and complain how it broke again. I look at the purchase date and it is over 30 years old and I complain. They look at me funny and say if a new appliance gets 10 years, consider yourself lucky. Too bad Maytag was bought up by another company and has lost the magic formula.

Protect major electronics with voltage line conditioners.
