Are Mistakes Mistakes?
It is good when life goes great. But what about the negative times where things seem to go wrong? The times where we feel that we have wasted years. Where we may not have had the positive outcomes that we had hoped.
Such times we do need. They can be stressful. They can be painful. But without them we would not have any experience, and this experience can't be learned in a college. It can't be learned through any other way. We may hear of others who have gone through things and survived. But how do we know how they felt unless we have felt the same? And to feel the same we need to experience the same.
And no, I don't want everyone to experience death of a family member, or the stresses of collage where one becomes an emotional wreck. Or the pressures while at work doing all sorts of tasks... Some are fascinating. Others are ones one would do anything to get out of where one thinks "Why did I sign the contract?"
But without trying.... Without giving it a go... How do you know if you will thrive or crash? And if you should thrive you are on a winner!
How do you know if you will find ones opposite other unless one is brave enough to start dating? Unless one makes a move and starts to speak? I feel that this is harder for a shy male then a shy female, as in most cases the men make the first move.
But without giving things a go (As long as they are safe to do so as we need to use sense in these matters) how will we know?
And negative experiences ad failures we learn from and are just as valueable to us as success. As for repeated successes we will have likely gone through repeated failures to get there! It is very rare to find anyone anywhere successful who has not failed at some point in their life.
So don't think of failure as negative. It is a stepping stone to success.

Mistakes are almost always accidental, making their most common causes one or more of the following:
• Cognitive Impairment: Impaired judgment or reduced reasoning power.
• Inattention or distraction.
• Lack of competence and experience.
• Memory Impairment: Includes forgetting a step in a work process or a safety measure.
• Personality or attitude, such as negligence, arrogance, or overconfidence.
• Poor risk perception due to poor knowledge and experience.
• Sensory Impairment: Delayed or false sensation of the sensory organs.
• Skill level inadequate for the task performed.

Pretty much agree.
One of my favorite quotes (not sure who originated it) is "every choice in life you make is...a mistake!".
Sounds negative, but its actually very positive. Just think about it.

I think that we can often avoid mistakes if we give enough thought to the outcome before attempting whatever it is.
I also don’t need to go through something in order to appreciate how someone else feels.
Being able to learn from small mistakes is good, but I don’t think that one should learn not to text and drive by first getting into an accident and killing someone.
It’s best to avoid making mistakes to begin with, but if they happen, the best thing to do is to learn from them and move on instead of falling into wallowing self pity, hopelessness, and despair.

Agree completely with you, Twilightprincess, in that I would have much rather avoided having made particular "mistakes" as they would have saved me from a lifetime of heartbreak and ongoing difficulty ... Had certain things been avoided, life would not have been as harmful as it was. While we learn from mistakes, in some cases, you can't help but believe that THAT should simply NEVER have happened. Especially when no good comes of it at all, and it effects your entire life and well-being, as well as that of others.

Very true! I can identify with this too much.
I think that if I had been better prepared and educated I would’ve been less likely to make those mistakes. Mistakes are unavoidable, but I think that with the right preparation teens and young adults can avoid making the worst ones.
It’s tough to continue to struggle with the results of mistakes made many years ago.
