I'd say that 3-4 days is about right.

I erred on the side of caution and chucked it.

No, I avoid eating leftovers as much as I can.

I prefer to cook single portions. I'll divide up meat and put it in the freezer for later use. This is also a great way to diet.

I often eat ham that's been in the fridge over a week. The only time I got food poisoning was from eating bread that had mold on it. I have some colorblindness & couldn't see it. I quit buying the generic WalMart bread because that bread kept going bad before the expiration date. 1ce I bought it with a week before the expiration date & my girlfriend noticed mold on it the next night. That was the last time I bought that bread.

I'm kind of terrified of getting food poisoning, and even if was still edible, it will likely taste off and I will not enjoy it.

It's scary how food products are recalled all the time because of salmonella and listeria and E.coli. A few days ago I even read about a recall on a brand of frozen raspberries because of norovirus.

When people say "it must have been something they ate" when someone is sick, that's probably exactly what it was. There's poison everywhere. :( I think I'll hire myself a food taster. :)

I've had food poisoning twice in the last four years, so I always err on the side of caution when it comes to eating leftovers. Food poisoning is a miserable experience.
