I am really thin, my parents seem to think I have some kind of eating disorder.

Is fast Metabolism and Autism (Aspergers) connected?

I'd be seventy pounds lighter if that were the case.

Not directly. Medication related to autism can affect metabolism thou & emotional issues related to autism can affect weight too(like stress & anxiety may cause you to eat less or go to the bathroom a lot)

You must be, said the Cat, or you wouldn't have come here.

Yes I totally believe autism affects metabolism. I'm overweight and I notice most of the autistic people I met were either very very skinny with an unusually fast metabolism or overweight with a very very slow one. There definitely needs to be more research on autism and metabolism.

I've experienced weight fluctuations, so IMO, it could depend on not only on metabolism, but also how physically active a person on the spectrum is.

I wish! You know how snakes can swallow their prey and then go without eating for several weeks at least without eating while their meal is being very slowly digested? That's basically what my own metabolism is like. Except I want to eat almost every day.

For me, if I am on the spectrum I would say yes and here is why. When I am on edge I find stomach acid goes straight through and tends to make great big holes in my underpants. Most of my pants have holes in due to this. I used to get food go straight through without being digested. Complete green leaves etc, all due to nurves... So yes, I do belive it can certainly effect ones body... Also, I tend to eat about three times more then my Mum does.

Not everyone with an eating disorder is skinny

Not everyone that is skinny has eating disorder

:jester:

Although, I told the psychiatrist, I eat too much

He answered, you said you weight 110. Why do think you eat took much?

Told him how far I walk. Where do you walk, in a park? How do you know it's 61 miles?

Measured on map

On the sidewalk in the city

He didn't believe that,I eat too much or walk so far

Not did he care

But the insurance does not pay for Renfrew Anorexic Impatient Center

The most is counseling

Sitting around talking

"Loose lips sink ships"

"Actions speak louder than words"

So he did not diagnose me with eating disorder

Neither did anyone else

But even if he did, then what?

Thats the issue Short. What can be done if it is an issue? When I was in my teens to early 20's because a bicycle was my means of transport, I found my blood pressure was low. The doctor said I should eat as much junk food as I can to bring it up. I didn't know what junk food was. I had to look it up.
Then about 20 years later I was told that it is too high! Mind you, I rarely cycle at the moment as the energy loss (Could be partial shutdowns) is more frequent then they used to be. Was the reason why I went years ago and drs blamed it on low blood pressure. Still get it with high blood pressure... Its not blood pressure then!

A few weeks ago slow metabolism was the one that was 'connected' to autism.

Mountain goat

Your low blood pressure could have been for a lot of reasons

Not everyone that rides a bike, has low blood pressure

Not everyone that has low blood pressure, rides a bike

The blood pressure reading could have been wrong

The blood pressure cuff is meant for arms 9 to 13 inch circumference

As much junk food as you "can", just to bring your blood pressure up?

What was your blood pressure?

Mine is regularly 90 and nobody told me anything

Eating as much junk food as you "can" changes many things

Blood pressure is jus one of them

But there are a lot of doctors

And doctors are as weird as laymen

So whatever

How many doctors told you to eat as much junk food as you "can"?

Sounds specific

Just one doctor?

It's hard to fathom that that was correct advice

But maybe the  junk food manufacturer  , gave the doctor commission

Some articles claim that, pharmaceutical companies give doctors gifts like cars, for prescribing their drug

Some articles claim that Big Food manufacturer bribe the Food Drug Administration $$$, to put dairy on the food pyramid

But (allegedly) adult human don't need to eat dairy

There is no way to know what is correct statement

Manipulative  :jester:  :skull: :nerdy:

Was just one doctor. Is only the last few weeks where someone in here gave me a link where the discription of what I get is so accurate that it has to be right. Partial shutdowns. It has taken 40 years to find this out since I first remember having them. I think over they years I was tested for most other things.
