I like roses, and there is something I read about this flower's symbolism that is really cool.

The rose symbolizes a balance of love and power by its sweet petals and sharp thorns.

There always needs to be a healthy balance of love, kindness, and compassion mixed with power, courage, and strength.

Those who have power without love will become corrupt.

Those who have love without power will be victimized and destroyed.

A rose needs its thorns to guard its pretty delicate petals. There is a time for war and a time for peace.

A good leader tempers justice with mercy

I like your symbolism there! :)
I'm familiar with roses symbolizing love, but not the rest of it.

The rose is my favorite flower, it is just so beautiful.... And the sweet scent of some of them......

My second favorite is tulip which could almost be called rose light!

Thanks! :D

They're my favorite too. I like red roses but also Cherokee roses. Cherokee roses are the state flower of Georgia and are symbolically connected to the Trail of Tears. It's a sad story of when the Cherokee people were forced out of their homes by the US government. Legend says these roses grew where the Cherokee people's tears hit the ground.

I also like Japanese Cherry Blossoms and Water Lilies. And any wildflowers. :flower:

She kind of reminds me of Caligula.

If you're gonna talk about "roses", and symbolism, you cant ignore the Rosecrucians. A secret society, like the Freemasons, into esoteric symbolism.

Apparently they have their own museum in California.

The Brits even had a war named after the flower.

Though to be fair it wasnt called that at the time. Centuries later historians dubbed the wars between the House of York (symbolized by a white rose), and the House of Lancaster (symbolized by a red rose), as "the wars of the roses".

They were both branches of the house of Plantagenet, and were fighting over the thrown (kinda like the house of Clinton and the house of Bush  ).
