Facebook poking ?! I don't get it

I was poked so poked the person back.Then they poked me again . I have no idea what the aim is ,or how to respond.

It could have a wide variety of meanings. Who poked you?

Someone from a high IQ FB group that I got invited to join . He'd sent a friend request about a fortnight ago which I'd agreed to. Between starting on FB in 2009 to February this year I had about 60 friends. Taking part in high IQ groups since about February this year has increased that to 117.

I'd guess is probably just a game (like tag), sort of like Off the Wall forum games here.

There are a number of reasons someone might want to send a poke , here are a few:

• Just to say a quick "hello" to a friend
• To remind someone that you're waiting on a reply or a message from him or her
• To check in and see if a person has visited Facebook lately
• To let someone know you're thinking of him or her
• Just for fun with your friends
