One Christmas eve back in the days when my Dad was here on this earth, it was around midnight and I was hungry. My Mum had stocked the cupboards with Christmas food, and I decided to nip down and take something small to eat. My stomache was churning a little... I descended the stairs. Everyone else was asleep. I went through to the kitchen and opened one of the cupboard doors. I could see that my Mum had shopped at our local budget foreign store called Lidl. They sell budget foods and in those days some foods were sold in foreign packets where English was only seen in smallprint down the bottom as an afterthought. I saw a chocolate biscuit bar. It was covered in a wrapper. I decided "This will do", opened the packet and took a bite. It tasted a bit bland, but as I had started and didn't want to waste it... At least this foreign food was edible! I ate my way through the bar. The whole bar tasted bland. It was a little odd. I went to look at the packet. Was one of those where the translation into English was a bit off and it said "Good Boy" on it. Otherwize, apart from foreign writing, the wrapper was a bit unexciting and ordinary. Cetainly not marketed the same way as British food which used a lot of manipulated colours on it to entice people to buy.
Well, I went to bed less hungry. My stomache had stopped churning. It will do for now! I went to sleep.
The next morning was Christmas day. We all had the odd present or two to open. My Mum was in the kitchen looking for something.
She said "Has anyone seen the dogs Christmas present?" Umm no? None of us had. I asked her what it looked like, and she said it was a chocolate covered dog biscuit...

LOL, funny story.

I remember once eating some dry cat food. It tasted yucky and gritty.

It's only after trying their food when one starts to realize why dogs and cats are there begging for our food!

^ It's also the reason dogs lick their testicles - to take away the taste of dog food

Yuck! Dogs take great humour in doing that and when you are not expecting it, they come running up and lick your face! Errr!

I view eating that blah biscuit as an act of charity towards the dog.

It couldn't have been real chocolate because it can kill dogs.

And just because it doesn't taste good to us doesn't mean a dog won't like it.

Maybe I could do a TV commercial for dogs telling them which human foods are tasty? :P

That's true. My parents dog eats things that are non food items. My parents keep her well fed so she shouldn't be that hungry.

My cat, Samantha, could have done a commercial about what human foods were tasty to cats. Butter would definitely have been number one on her list.
