We called that game “ gossip”.
And here it's called "Telephone," or "Playing telephone," if you're referring to how someone's message got mixed up or distorted along the way.
When I clicked this thread I assumed that "Chinese whispers," was going to refer to some sort of tactic by the CCP used to plant the seeds of ideas in various other countries and Pepe was apologizing for criticising them.
In which case I was going to defend him, because they actually do things like that all over the world.. in governments, on university campuses etc - they do it here 100% for sure.
I was just talking to a political sciences student at The Fire the other night who was born in Shanghai, moved to the USA when he was 4, also has Canadian citizenship & is here to study. He's extremely critical of the CCP for many reasons. His grandfather basically sold his soul to the party for $$, that then allowed his dad to get an education and build wealth so that now him and his older brother can be highly educated in Canada. A Machiavellian means to an end that he's very, very, well aware of - well beyond his years. He's frustrated that the CCP have growing tendrils in Canadian society and government and angry that we don't put a stop to it/elect officials that help facilitate it - and I get his frustrations 100%, but we as the little people have next to zero control over what our lying politicians do once in office. If their aim is to fly to China and sell us out, as they did, then that's that and now there's approximately sweet F all we can do by closing the barn door once all the horses have run away.
How's that for garbling the OP?
