The poll could have either allowed for 13 constellations or "houses", allowed for 2 votes, or included an option for "Other/None of the above".

Fnord, the extra sign you mentioned isnt qualified as a real sign, and is not part of the Zodiac. I dont know the full story about that extra sign, but it doesnt belong to modern astrology.
Therefore, I didn't "miss" anything Fnord.
I did enough research on astrology to know the basics. I dont need an astrology lesson from you.

Actually, it is. If you look up at the summer night sky, you will see the constellation of Ophiuchus right there, between Scorpius to the west and Sagittarius to the east. It straddles the equator with the majority of its area lying in the southern hemisphere, so it's understandable that most astrologers would ignore it.

Besides, how many people outside of Christian Fundamentalism would want to be known as a "Snake Bearer"?

Astrologers Incorrectly Claim the Following:

Taurus: Apr. 21 to May 21
Gemini: May 22 to June 22
Cancer: Jun. 23 to Jul. 22
Leo: Jul. 23 to Aug. 22
Virgo: Aug. 23 to Sep. 22
Libra: Sep. 23 to Oct. 22
Scorpio: Oct. 23 to Nov. 22
Sagittarius: Nov. 23 to Dec. 22

Astronomers Correctly Claim the Following:

Capricorn: Jan. 20 to Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16 to Mar. 11
Pisces: Mar. 11 to Apr. 18
Aries: Apr. 18 to May 13
Taurus: May 13 to Jun. 21
Gemini: Jun. 21 to Jul. 20
Cancer: Jul. 20 to Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10 to Sep. 16
Virgo: Sep. 16 to Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30 to Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23 to Nov. 29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29 to Dec. 17
Sagittarius: Dec. 17 to Jan. 20

If you were born between Nov. 29 and Dec. 17, your sign is actually one you never saw in the newspaper -- you are an Ophiuchus -- a "Snake Bearer"! The ecliptic observably passes through the constellation of Ophiuchus after Scorpius. Astrologers completely ignore this one observable fact, and none of them can give a reasonable answer why without admitting that astrology has little (if anything) to do with the actual positions of the Earth and Sun relative to the zodiac.

I always thought I was a taurus... so I'm really an aries? :chin:

Apparently so!

But when people ask me what my sign is, I usually say, "Thelev, the Weaver" and leave them scratching their heads.

I'm Cancer. 21 July, so I would be cancer in both lists.

According to the tarot cards my birth cards are The Emperor and Death. :king: :skull:

I have the same birth cards as King Henry the VIII... and Donald Trump. :?

Which makes me a Leo by Astronomy and a Virgo by Astrology.

Well, I dont really care about Horoscopes and mostly they point people in the wrong direction in life, to be honest. I think you gotta be careful from these things.
However, some things they say about each astrology sign are actually accurate, atleast to some extent. To be honest, I dont think identification with the animal or figure associated with your astrology sign is the right thing to do. Like, for example, a Taurus - you dont necessarily have a bull's behavior just by being a Taurus. Maybe it is supposed to represent some of the traits, but certainly not all of them.
But I agree with one thing that is said about astrology signs, and that is the elements. The 4 elements of Fire, Water, Air and Earth each get along with other people who have the same element. Taurus gets along well with a Virgo, and Pisces gets along well with a Cancer, for example. It makes sense because I've seen married couples get along especially well by being the same element.
But, some people think that you are automatically compatible with someone else just because of a match between your element and their element, or something similar to that. That is not true. You still gotta work hard, learn to get along and everything, in order to succeed.
Generally, I dont decide whether a person would fit my personality or not just by their astrology sign, but the tendency is always there which you get along with people which have the same element as yours.
people born under cusps like 22 June or 22 December, etc. - are more difficult to analyze. They get traits of 2 signs.
I like energetic signs like Aries and Leo, they're both Fire elements. I never encountered someone who was Aries or Leo and was lazy and gentle. They're always looking for action in some way.
But its okay if some people here dont believe these things or think its all lies. We all believe different things.

Earth, air, fire and water represent states of matter; they are not "elements", even though they were called that during time time of ancient Indian, Hellenistic Egypt, and ancient Greece. Modern science has proven these "elements" to actually be chemical compounds, mixtures, or (in the case of fire) mostly ionized gasses.

Earth == Solid
Air == Gas
Fire == Plasma
Water == Liquid

Otherwise, there are 94 naturally-occurring elements, and 24 more that can only be synthesized in a collider or reactor. Modern science does not support the "Classical" elements as the material basis of the physical world. Atomic theory classifies atoms into more than a hundred chemical elements such as oxygen, iron, and mercury. These elements form chemical compounds and mixtures, and under different temperatures and pressures, these substances can adopt different states of matter. The most commonly observed states of solid, liquid, gas, and plasma share many attributes with the classical elements of earth, water, air, and fire, respectively, but these states are due to similar behavior of different types of atoms at similar energy levels, and not due to containing a certain type of atom or a certain type of substance.
