Well, some people are shy at times and thats okay, its normal to be shy sometimes, especially about things you arent comfortable with. But have you ever been timid, to the extent you couldnt do basic tasks like talking to someone else in a store, making a phone call, and other things like that?
For me, it happened many times in the past, although these days it happens more rarely, but still happens.
I remember when I walked into a clothes store, I needed help with choosing sizes and I was too timid to call one of the workers to help me find things and so on.
I also had to make a phone call to some agency and ask a few questions, but I was too timid to make the phone call. I went there physically instead and for some reason that felt more comfortable to me. Even though they say you can be more timid usually on the phone a lot less than face to face, and so on.
The cause of this might be trying to avoid social situations where it requires being social or talk a lot, and I become timid if I am not in the right mood for somthing like this, but I have to do it if I want to get what I want, at times.
If anyone here have been in a similar situation in the past, I'd appreciate if you can please share it here. Thank you

I'm rarely if ever timid. My problem is that I speak my mind and won't back down until people see things my way.

Yes, I can be timid, but this doesn't happen all the time. However, if I am with my mom, it is when things can become awkward between me and whoever my mom tells me to interact with.

Sometimes. Most of the time I'm brash, overly confident and obnoxious. I was pathologically shy as a teenager, though. I don't know where my self-confidence came from.

I have a real reputation for speaking my mind, and not suffering fools gladly.

That sounds like social anxiety to me. I have it pretty badly, I have trouble even ordering food in a restaurant. When I have to initiate a conversation in any way, unless it's with my immediate family (in which case I have little trouble), usually I get so anxious that I can't even force my vocal cords to move no matter how hard I try. But then if the other person says something first, like if a store employee asks me if I need help rather than me having to get their attention, I can sometimes handle it better, depending on my mood and anxiety level ag the time.

I have anxiety issues & I put things off or let others do the talking for me sometimes. I've gotten much better at speaking for myself than I used to be but I still don't like it sometimes.

Emphasis on 'sometimes'.
Not anxiety, but actual shyness.
If it happens, it doesn't truly held me back but it does made me a bit more cautious and still get the job done. I cannot do this well if it's anxiety, which is an uncommon occurence in my case.

Sometimes I ended up being shameless, confident and willfully reckless instead no matter how uncertain and clueless.

... Most traits are a 'sometimes' to me, that it barely mattered much anymore.
