On Facebook, I think its easier to share real life pics with almost no harm to privacy. Since every real person on facebook must share a real pic of themselves, and everyone on Facebook does that, you dont seem weird to others if you do it because everyone's doing it.
I would say, however, on places like WrongPlanet. I think the real life pics thread didnt have every single active member sharing a real life pic, and not everyone wants to share their real life pic on there. I think the fact a lot of people have decided to share increases the likeliness of others wanting to share too, "follow steps" of others, and feel more comfortable sharing a real life pic if they see others did the same.
I dont regret sharing mine, and I dont feel uncomfortable with it. It was a very normal pic, one that I look good in, one that presents me well and I'm happy with that decision. However, I realize I could have probably shared a higher quality pic, or one that shows me in a slightly better position. But, its not a big problem.
How do you think / feel regarding sharing real life pics on the Internet in general, and how do you decide which pics are best to share and which ones arent?
Thank you
