My dream recall is poor . The most prevalent themes I recall revolve around getting lost , or trying to speak but no words come out.

Common themes in my dreams include cats and animals, getting lost or going into public restrooms.

The dreams I remember involve flying, exploring old houses, and walking along empty streets of abandoned towns.

Dreams normally happen in REM sleep which in some ways is the deepest part of sleeping. Rapid eye movement (REM) sleep is a unique phase of sleep in mammals and birds, distinguishable by random/rapid movement of the eyes, accompanied with low muscle tone throughout the body (as a result movement is inhibited), and the propensity of the sleeper to dream vividly. Many times unless you wake up from REM sleep, you will find it difficult to remember your dreams.

If you want to recall your dreams, have a notepad and pen handy and whenever you wake up, jot down your dreams quickly before they disappear.

unfortunately i remember quite a few dreams, and I wish I didn't, they're often about bad things in the past, and just makes me wake up in a bad mood and not feeling rested.

that's cool, I wish I had dreams like that.

i use either of the "weirdest dream you had" threads to log my dreams, which seem mostly bizarre extrapolations of my waking life/consciousness.
