Yes, but make sure that the soap does cannot get inside the bag.

I don't wash anything. Dry goods sit in the grocery bags for several days before I put them away. Everything else goes into the fridge or freezer asap, for at least 24hrs. I doubt germs can withstand that cold.
I actually got in the habit of freezing bread and lightly toasting as needed. Works for me - I never finished an entire loaf, and now I have no waste.
