How do you sound on tape?

I read about this, its because your voice is amplified by your skull or something, so what you think you sound like, isnt. Super huh

Best bit is leaving messages for yourself on a dictaphone for the first time, and then you listen back and think - who the bloody hell is that?

You only think you do. What you hear on tape is closer to what you really sound like than what you hear in your head.

I sound a lot squeakier and a lot more Scottish than I think I do. Everyone sounds different on recordings from how they sound to themselves.

The last time I remember hearing myself on tape I sounded like a ret*d child. I don't even recognize myself and never let myself be recorded if I can help it.

Everyone I know likes my voice, except me. Cannot stand hearing myself over loud speakers or on a recording.

I sound Canadian in my head. When I hear myself on tape, I sound like a male Cockney.

My voice sounds a lot higher and like there's something not quite right with it. I don't really the sound of my own voice.
