I live right across the street from a railroad switch yard and trains go by all night but mostly I sleep through it.
Wanna trade homes with me?
Actually I'm not so sure, I'm a light sleeper and I get awakened easily.
Oh what the heck, if I cannot sleep, I can step outside the house or wherever you live and whatever you live in and watch the trains and then go back inside when I've had my fill!
I live in Tucson and live more than 4 miles north from the nearest railroad track, although I can still hear the horns a little bit, especially during the winter. I don't understand how in parts of Tucson, especially as far north as Grant Road and east as Kolb Road you can hear the trains during the winter but not during the summer. I used to live on Golf Links Road between Kolb and Wilmot and heard the trains during the winter, especially if I left my window open and if it was cloudy. Where I lived right before, on 36th Street and Mission Road, you could easily hear them and you could see Downtown Tucson from there and that's where four of Tucson's railroad crossings are (they're all on the Union Pacific Sunset Route, which is the main line. Sometimes you can hear the horns of trains on Union Pacific's Nogales Branch from 36th and Mission!) For my safety, I'm not giving my exact location, not even the cross streets, just know I live a little more than four miles north of the nearest track, which also crosses my street further west and next to I-10!

There is a massive railroad yard across from my house, but it's not so bad. You get used to it. Besides, trains are cool.
I totally agree!
