I have to give my cat medication, she has a bladder infection, it’s hard giving her medication, I put her pill in her wet food, she won’t eat it, I tried shoveling down her throat, she spit it out, she already missed her morning pill time. She need two different pills, one pill, one twice a day, 12 hours apart. I already cried, got mad & had anxiety. How do people here give their cats medication?

My granddad was a Vet. Lubricate the pill (butter/cooking oil), grab the cat up by the scruff of her neck. This will paralyze her from fighting you temporarily. Take the pill and place it in the back of her mouth, without poking it completely down her throat. After that and with the same free hand you've just used to place the pill, massage her adam's apple area (if cats had an adam's apple). This should stimulate her to swallow. Do all of this while keeping her 'scruffed' by the skin on the back of her neck. Don't let go until you can see that she's swallowed.

Is it a pill that can be crushed up? (You might have to ask the vet this)

In that case, you can try to crush the pill until it's in almost a powder and then mix it with wet food and add some tuna to mask the taste of the pill.

Also, some pills are flavored - you can ask the vet this too.

And be careful about scruffing the cat as this can potentially make it difficult for them to breathe. If they can't breathe, they will struggle even harder.

I wonder if a cat would lick up a crushed pill if it was in some dairy product like whipped cream or soft ice cream. At Thanksgiving they gave the cats some whipped cream and they lapped it up really fast.
