They are sociopaths, and they harass people for no reason whatsoever. They raid picnics when we don't want anything to do with them, and they get joy out of stinging. Seriously, they detest human beings, just as we detest them, so we should try to make them all go extinct (especially yellow jackets). I am so tired of them.

Kill them. Kill them all. Kill them with fire.

Agreed. They are very evil, and sting me whenever I try to kill one or swat at one (which is the treatment that they deserve for existing). They should just take what they deserve.

Every creature has a right to live.
There is a balance to nature that tends to tilt towards the disastrous side when creatures are eradicated from it.
Live and let live, I say.
And keep a healthy distance.

Wasps are beneficial creatures, they attack some garden pests like cabbage loopers.Yellow jackets can be a pain in the ass in the fall, they do get pugnacious. They even help pollinate.
All wasps are protective of their home and babies, what creature isn't?
I catch the ones inside with a glass and piece of paper and relocate them back outdoors.
Wasps are not always aggressive when flying around, sometimes they just land on a person and have no intention of stinging.Till someone swats them in a panic.
The other day one of the really big wasps,a cicada killer, made its way inside thru the front door.No panic,he went back out.
Lots of wasps around here, all sizes and colors.
Old folks call them "waspers"

Wasps have a place in their ecosystem. Fortunately, you would probably have to learn about that before attaining the power to eliminate them, and I hope you would reconsider your course at that time.

Not kill 'em.

Just send 'em back to where they came from. All White Anglo Saxon Protestant Americans should be deported back to the nations of their origins: in northwest Europe (Britain, Germany, Scandinavia , Netherlands, etc).

Had to deal with a ground nest for my mum two summers ago and its made me more tolerant of wasps, I'm more likely to shoo them back outside, it was an experience that I felt remorse for, strangely though the experience made mum less tolerant.

certainly. there's a reason they're here, already outlined.

the question IS, what is YOUR place in the ecosystem?

Then build a wall to keep them out.A giant sea wall that they will have to pay for.

Humans don't even get the worst of it, they do much worse than sting other insects...lol. That said I have no issue killing wasps around my house especially if making nests. But I certainly would not go out into the wild trying to kill them, that could have unexpected negative consequences on the ecosystem. Sort of like mosquitos and flies are unpleasant but they still serve a purpose.

Plus there are 100s of kinds of wasps, and not all of them are quite so mean. Like there is a tiny wasp that puts its eggs on oak trees and will eat pest bugs off the oak trees, if you ever notice fuzzy stuff on the bottom of oak trees that's their doing..I wouldn't want to kill those.

If anything humans are one of the least necessary things in the ecosystem.

8O i think nobody of any species has "a right to live". they just happen to be alive. for example, i just happen to be alive. i do not have "a right to live". unless under military orders or unless they are the executioner and i got the death sentence, nobody has a right to exterminate/kill/assassinate me. (fine). but i could get a heart attack, or something. where nobody physically and illegally did something that directly and literally caused my physical death. :jester:

animal rights are a controversy. food chain.

but quite frankly, what difference does it make if wasps have a right to live. someone could just kill them, and that is the end of that.

:) Seriously, they detest human beings, just as we detest them :skull:

okay, just b/c one species detests another species, does not mean that the detested species has no right to live. b/c otherwise, wasps could make the same claim.

likewise, if a bear or dog mauls a human to death, then it does not matter if the human had a right to live. in any event, nothing could be done to the bear anyways. even if some animal control authorities shot the bear, then what? the human's still dead anyways.

Hating humans seems like an excessively complicated emotional and thought process to ascribe to a wasp.

The reason that the authorities shoot predators who kill humans is that we're remarkably easy to kill, and we don't want them to tell the other bears about it or we'd be in real trouble.

to their credit, they've made some admirable progress within the last half century. i don't see how they are any less necessary than anything else (say, a coelocanth), and IMO a net detrimental footprint is indeed a shame, but who gets to decide what is "needed" and what isn't?

they simply are, there's no rights involved.

dunno, the whole thing just reeks of anthropocentric arrogance, but that's just me. i know quite a few humans who have done less for me than bees, wasps and spiders as a whole.
