Daniel Radcliffe, the 30-year-old star, who garnered mega fame in his time playing the beloved Harry Potter, revealed as much during an appearance on the “Graham Norton Show" on Friday, sharing some interesting moments he’s experienced in public.

"It's weird and funny, with some very odd moments," Radcliffe said before launching into a tale about the time he was mistaken for a homeless man.

"I was in New York recently with my girlfriend and while she was in a shop, I was outside with our adopted dog. It was very cold, and I had on a hoodie, a fleece and then a big coat over the top,” Radcliffe explained.

"Because it was so cold, I knelt down to warm the dog and I saw this guy looking at me and then he walked past me," the actor continued. "But then he came back and handed me five dollars and said, 'Get yourself a coffee mate.'"

Added Radcliffe: "Apparently, I need to shave more often!"

A good lesson to all us Aspies: if a movie star like Daniel Radcliffe can be mistaken for a bum, we had better make sure we are on our best and have a decent wardrobe because some of us, with our in-public shyness and what not, can easily be mistaken for the down-and-out.

If someone hands me $5 and tells me to get myself a coffee, I'm buying some Hot Wheels. :nerdy:

$5.00 for one cup of coffee?

The average price for a cup of coffee at Starbucks is $4.03, without sales tax or gratuity.

I would rather buy some fast food.

Been there,
Done that.

All you have to do is wear some black trousers and a white shirt.
You become a "white-collar worker",
And wallah!
Respected.

True story.

i will not dress like i'm in the rat race. i worked my tuchas off to get out of that and don't have any affection for the sartorial trappings thereof. people either grok me or they don't. i can live with either condition. mr. radcliffe was not the first nor will he be the last person mistaken for somebody of lower caste - the late supreme court justice thurgood marshall recalled, with some good humor, a time when he boarded the SCOTUS' dedicated elevator and was mistaken by some lost tourists, for the elevator operator, one of them barely glanced at him and ordered, "first floor, please." he replied to them, "yes, massah" as he pressed the elevator button for them. none of the tourists had a clue.

I have done that for ages,
And it wasn't intentional,
But I was able to see the connection.

I don't give a crap about the rat-race either.
Apparently, this isn't uncommon in the autistic community.
Most of us aren't interested in poncing around, trying to impress others.
It is, after all, an exercise in deception that most of us aren't interested in. <shrug>

I wouldn't know Harry Potter in a line-up of two men.

I've never seen the film or read the book.

I hope the actor gave that $5 to someone who needed it.
