I like many of the Walt Disney animated films. One of my favorite is "Beauty and the Beast". Within the story is a magical rose. When the last petal falls off the rose, (unless he finds true love first), the Beast might as well be dead.
In the modern tale, the rose symbolizes the Beast's chance at love. Every time a petal falls, his time to find love gets smalller. The wilting rose can also symbolize the passing of everything worthwhile for the Beast. If he can't break the curse, he will remain a Beast forever.
I guess I live in a world of wonder. Every day I come across something new, something that I didn't even realize existed. They actually make these roses and several companies sell them. Like the magical flower from the movie these roses defy logic. Each rose stands upright in a glass dome. If left encased in the bell glass, the rose can last forever [20+ years] without sunlight or even water. If removed from the protective dome, it will still retain its recently-plucked appearance and remain wilt-free for up to 3 years.
How are these magical flowers created? They begin with roses that have thick petals, this contributes to their longevity. The roses are cut and dehydrated and then a “secret potion” (consisting of glycerin and other oils) are applied which is responsible for the roses’ immortality. [In scientific terms, I would probably describe it as an embalming process, but that would take all the magic away.]

I wonder why I liked this particular film, Beauty and the Beast. I wonder if it is somehow symbolic for Aspies. How many of us feel like we are a wonderful prince inside, if only they could see beyond our Beast appearance? They would get to know the real prince inside us.

Wow, I had no idea such roses existed! Roses are so beautiful but they last so short a time. Maybe this could be the answer if I could find one. But I assume they must be ridiculously expensive.
