No sir! My teeth are so crooked that the cavities echo "Rule Brittania."

Yes and I hated it, also it wasn't even necessary, it didn't really fix anything.

I had braces & only wore the retainer for a short time after. I hated the braces but some of that was cuz my orthodontist was NOT good with kids. He had an attitude with em & lots of parents didn't like him but mine didn't know that when I started seeing him. I was also fitted for my retainer 2wice cuz the mold wasn't rite the 1st time & the guy was annoyed with me over it even thou I don't see how it could of been my fault in any way.

No. It's expensive.

wore them from age 13...right before i turned 14, this was may 2011, to february 2014. the bratty child in me had my parents pay extra for the clear ones. i didn't want to be made fun of for a visible railroad smile. i already had goofy glasses.
immediately after i was assigned a retainer, which i wore religiously for about a grand total of 2 months. then i didn't. every once in a blue moon after that, i think the last time was sometime this past spring. just to make sure they still fit, i suppose - and it did.

my teeth have reverted slightly, nowhere near their starting position, nobody would notice they weren't perfect unless they were staring down my maw and investigating but, nobody will ever do that so i'm not gonna lose any sleep over it.

i have a permanent retainer, a stiff metal wire glued forever to my lower 4 incisors. it broke once.

the person with the worst teeth i ever met, in high school, was the first one in my class that i knew of to have a kid. that kid must be 7 or 8 by now. insane

I’m not sure whether braces or retainer is the correct term do what I had: clear moulded plastic that sat inside my teeth/over my inner gums and palate with blunted metal ‘hooks’ that went between my teeth to hold them in place on the lower jaw, and a single metal rail floating over my front teeth with no clamps/feet/whatever they’re called. Very uncomfortable.
It was to pull my lower jaw forwards because it was growing at a slower rate than my upper jaw resulting in my lower incisors repeatedly cutting the gums behind my upper teeth.
They tried to talk me into having a second one afterwards to line up my wonky teeth: I refused point blank! :D

Why did they do that?
I tried putting in my retainer a couple years after I had quit wearing it & either the top or the bottom wouldn't fit at all & the other one fit but was very uncomfortable. Every now & then when I go to the dentists, they say something about a cross-bite. I don't really care that my teeth aren't aligned perfectly. Every now & then I bite the inside of my cheek but I think that's cuz of how fast I eat & that I'm not really focusing the way I'm supposed to on it & I would likely do that even if my teeth were aligned perfectly.

Yeah, me too!
I bite inside my cheek hard at least twice a month, I put it down to co-ordination/multitasking issues: only happens when I’m following an involved line of thought or someone’s talking to me while I eat.

Yup, in late elementary-early middle school. Wasn't fun.

Fortunately I was given a very good set of teeth. My cousin had to wear braces though, and I know from his experience I would not have been able to tolerate them.

I had braces twice. They took them off too soon the first time so I had to have them again. Total of like three years maybe, so not too bad.

I had the clear plastic molded retainer and the traditional one. Eventually they stopped giving me the molded ones because I was destroying them too frequently. The very last traditional one they made me never quite fit right to me, but they didn't seem to think it was an issue.

My teeth have moved a bit since then, most likely the most after I had my wisdom teeth removed but nothing real drastic.

I also have a wire glued to my bottom teeth. Only its to six of my teeth, not four. Mine hasn't broken but it popped off a year or something ago. The price to glue it back was stupid.
