I just want to give a heads up and say that I while I myself am a member of Generation Z, I was raised on boomer media such as NES and older movies/music so I do not personally identity with much of what generation Z represents. And what I feel they represent is a total repudiation of anything that resembles personal responsibility. I base this not off of distant onlooking but of years of observing my peers in high school and beyond and taking note of their behaviors. What I see in an overwhelming amount of my peer group pretty sad actually. I'm going to list some of it off:

-Completely and utterly unwarranted narcissism (such as referring to oneself as "queen" in broken English)

-The use of applications like tik tok, instagram, and snapchat to showcase their blatant narcissism and hedonistic lifestyle as well as hide it from people they'd rather not see it in the case of snapchat.

-The prevalence of music like SoundCloud rap that glorifies drug use and violence in a completely incoherent manner and utterly mindless, headache inducing pop trash. (although I won't lie I love me some Kanye and Kendrick)

-Repeating the same phrases and behaviors of everybody else over and over (oof) just for social validation (slay, bich)

-Supporting socialism because it's trendy.

-Overall low IQ, lack of grammar, excessive use of acronyms.

-Being very bad at math.

-Placing ridiculously high value on superficial trends like astrology and horoscopes, whichever trendy quasi religion is popular at the time really.

-Not enjoying it when you try to delve too deep into any one topic because they don't like to think

-Pandemic scale levels of mental instability such as borderline personality disorder, narcissism, and sociopathy.

-Use of drugs like xanax and codeine, pill popping.

-Casual sex with every person under the sun.

Shall I go on? Gen Z sucks.

None of that is specific to gen z. Or even close to it. And NES (assuming you mean nintendo entertainment system) is gen y & x, not boomers really. I'd even call the orig atari not a boomer thing, but a gen x thing. LOL. Everyone b*****s about the younger generations. Just like our elders bitched about us. They are no worse or btr than any other gen.

HacKING: I don't know if Gen Z sucks necessarily but I do think that that culture sucks. It's not the generation, it's the prevailing culture. Boomers aren't annoying because they're old--it's because they came of age in living memory's first "me" generation. Gen. Z. is the way it is because of what they were feeding on.

I'm fed up with it too; I don't see a bit of fun in it. Everyone acts like a pack of sheltered middle-schoolers who first looked up memes and decided to live them.

Well if gen Z is the current generation of adolescents/teens then really my brother is the only one I know personally. He does well enough in school, is involved with the drama team and does plays...I don't like plays very much but, he is good at acting. Also he has a job and he seems pretty responsible for his age

He can be a bit sarcastic I suppose, but I think its kind of funny and he seems to have plenty of friends and acquaintances which I haven't talked to them very much but they all seem like good kids. Also they are well adept to online interaction which is making the closing of schools and having to do classes and schoolwork online easier.

Also when they go out and protest about climate change, it seems to me they really do care about the issue and aren't just trying to skip school. Kids in the 90's when I was a kid, yeah a good majority of us would have 'protested' just to skip school, that is not really the impression I get about kids that have participated in the climate protests these days.

They are just using them to protest as pawns in the less benevolent scheme of things.

I'm a mid-late millennial but there are a lot of reason I can say I dislike the millennial as a group.
Politically or socially I'm not a leftist socialist "social-justice" warrior anti-male anti-white person. I'm not saying that everyone that holds similar views to that is a bad person, but it's pretty annoying since this is the loud majority of millennial-gen-y and gen-z (slightly less so but still).

Technologically, I don't have a nearly as positive opinion of "just-in-time", smartphones, and social media kinds of tech. At least there used to be a medium between that and choosing the "older" ways, but that is getting narrower.

I'm not letting Baby Boomers off either, they took some wrong steps that are responsible in hindsight for the conditions we see today. Not that I think millennial/gen-z socialism is any better or informed solution.

I'm at the extreme tail end of the Boomer Generation. If I had been born two months later, I would have been Generation X.

The culture, as I see it, has been trending much darker, glorifying suicide, self harm, zombies, vampires and other creepy stuff. Young adult literature focuses almost exclusively on these topics. Regular adult fiction isn't much better, with horrible (and badly written) stories such as "Fifty Shades of Gray."

I feel like Mr Burns in that song "Look At All Those Idiots", which was on The Simpsons first music album "The Simpsons Sing The Blues":

Look at all those idiots,
Look at all those boobs!
An office full of morons,
A factory full of fools!
Is it any wonder,
That I'm singing, singing the blues?

At the end of the song, he changes it to, "A PLANET full of fools!", which is more accurate. :)

That's true. And other generations didn't do the Tide Pod Challenge either!

Why cant young folks today just settle for doing sensible commonsense good clean fun things that previous generations of teens did. Like...

Seeing how many dozens of folks you can stuff into a phone both.

Swallowing goldfish (also by the dozens).

And...playing chicken with cars! :D

Sensible stuff that even my parents generation were into!

++++++

But yeah. I concede that the Net is causing stupidity to spread around the globe at an unprecedented fast rate..

I'm afraid he's more accurate than a lot of folk would like to admit.
