What do you call that handheld device used to dry hair? A hair dryer or blow dryer?

I use this product. I call it a drying brush. As a verb, I'd say "I'm going to dry my hair".

If I used the regular type without a brush I'd say "I got a new blow dryer".

"Hair dryer" to me is a big drying hat they put over your head at the salon.

It's always a hair dryer to me (don't think I've ever even said blow dryer).

Those things that ladies sit under at the beauty parlor. Cones over their heads built into the chairs they sit in. Those are "hair dryers".

But the portable hand held things used by consumers in their own homes, for hair and other things (like drying paint, or drying your keyboard on your computer after you spill water on it), are "blow dryers".

I've always called them blow dryers. Or torture devices - I have horrible sensory issues with both the noise and the air being blown on me. I just let my hair air dry.

I call it a blow dryer because I mostly use it for drying spray paint, not hair. :nerdy:

Yeah. Blow dryers blow stuff dry. They can be used for drying more than just hair. I call it a blow dryer. A hair dryer is that thing in the hair salon that people sit under.
