Is it just me or have more people gotten rude?

I dont know if it's been a coincidence or if it has really increased.

With this virus and everyone being cooped inside, people are stressed, bored, so some of them might go online and just be rude to blow off steam.

People are ruder when they're stressed and they're more likely to be rude when they know it won't result in getting punched in the mouth.

Just a reminder: under international law, an occupying power has no right of self-defense, and those who are occupied have the right and duty to liberate themselves by any means possible.

It's very common for posters in the online comments section of the Daily Telegraph and The Guardian to insult each other when they disagree with their opinions. The alarming thing is that these are two of the UK's three 'quality' newspapers. People calling each other 'moron' or 'cretin' and the like is widespread.

Someone called me a 'Donut' yesterday in the Telegraph, and the mods removed it! You get a lot worse than that most of the time.

In crises, people start doing weird stuff: struggle to sleep, stay up late into the night reading endless news articles, buy pasta even if they don't like it, get angry with family for not staying home. Spelling can be a disaster and definitely drink more alcohol. People can be a bit teary, and all they want to do is eat is cake, cake and more cake.

If you’re having a wobble, you may also have noticed all sorts of weird stuff going on, are you arguing more, talking faster, struggling to sleep, restless, desperate for information? or are you teary and overwhelmed, perhaps feeling a bit sick? struggling to make decisions? just want to stay in bed? tummy upsets? having palpitations, butterflies, headaches? ranting, picking fights or getting into arguments? laughing unexpectedly or saying random, inappropriate things? developing very strong opinions on epidemiology overnight? or have you just completely gone to ground?

If you are feeling any of these things: good news! You are not going mad. And you are 100% not alone. You are, in fact completely normal: a fully emotionally functional human being. Congratulations.

Being anonymous often leads to a more rude behavior than in real life.

I have known people who are pretty likable in real life but who are rude and confrontational online.

Also, some people don't try to be rude and confrontational but come across that way from the way they write. A professional writer can generally express himself very well in his writing, but those of us who are not professional writers have more problems with trying to get the words we write to adequately represent what we are trying to say.

I was called a Karen on Reddit for asking if Amazon raised their Prime Membership price because of the corona.

Not everyone uses Prime.

I do have Prime but my husband handles the finances. I use his account because no need to pay for two Prime memberships.

I've been drinking more Red Bulls or just pop. Today I was drinking more Crystal light because it's only 5 calories per serving.

They're everywhere. If your views are anything to the right of Sanders or AOC, you're a "Nazi, fascist, incel (if male) bigot". If you're to the left of Trump, you're a "communist, tree-hugging, God-hating baby killer".

Those of us in the center get it on both ends. Should we moderates try to set them straight, or just embrace our "Commie-Nazi" status?

I suggest staying away from the cesspools known as Facebook (aka Facebook) and Twitter. The vitriol has really gotten out of hand, even for the dog breed specific pages!

Don't take it to heart. Everyone is getting "Edgy" on occasions at the moment.

I've been noticing that it's been conservatives and the right wing that are becoming the minority because they will get banned or blocked or even can get fired from their jobs for their views. They whine about free speech being violated. Plus their comments will be removed on Reddit and on social media like Twitter they get banned.

Also it's the conservatives that are being called Nazis or White supremacists or racist. I have seen them call democrats racist or say liberals are racist. Why? Because we want to treat them like human? Someone tried to convince me on Reddit how businesses will now refuse to hire white people and I said to that, "if it comes to that, you go apply somewhere else, it's not like all places won't hire you 'cause you're white" to explain why we are not oppressed. I even tried looking up to see if places are really only hiring the minority and not whites and I couldn't find anything to back it up so I think that is just an opinion.

If people espouse authoritarian nationalist rhetoric, or white supremacist/white nationalist rhetoric, why wouldn't it be fair to call a spade a spade? If someone is consistently being told their opinions are racist, getting butthurt over it isn't an appropriate response.

People, especially those in a certain country that shall remain nameless, think politeness is wimpy and anyone who is polite is of questionable sexual orientation. Or Canadian.

Humans have always been rude and toxic and overflowing with stupidity online. Humans are parasites. I just read in an article that gave BS advice about how to stop hating humans that in a perfect world people would always be kind, caring, thoughtful and polite. Wrong. In a perfect world humans wouldn't exist at ALL.
