Optimum (statistical wise) disc. thread characteristics?

Opinions on what constitutes optimum (statistical views) of discussion thread characteristics can serve as helpful exercises to "break the ice so to speak."

On the more practical side, reassessing the concept of "optimum" is very subjective (rough benchmarks at best) - yet it's possible to develop a few ideas which may help curb cumbersome and confusing content!

Optimum disc. thread characteristics may be characterized by the following:

* Posts have one to five dozen words - with at least one paragraph break.

* Discussion threads are optimum if they contain around two-dozen posts.

* The majority of activity (the active life-span) of discussion-threads seems to be in the two to three-week time period.

* On a rough estimate or "guesstimate" - a discussion thread's continuity might be maintained by responding to threads with the 'QUOTE' option about twice as often, and applying the 'REPLY' option about half as often.

Any further suggestions on disc. thread/post characteristics which seem to be in that Goldilocks zone of sorts??
