This is uncanny via 23andMe. My sense of direction is so poor and fear of getting lost so strong that I'll only walk in a small area near me by myself.

Over a decade ago, while living in Essex , I did a walking group via the local MH centre . It was really enjoyable with MH pros making sure no one got lost . We went to a destination via minibus and then walked for a couple of hours to another place . After a few years budget cuts meant the minibus couldn't be used, and it was reduced to a 40 minute walk round town .

I have a pretty good sense of direction. I barely know street signs, town names etc but can find things all the same rarely concerned about getting lost, especially if I've been there before, even if years ago. I remember a few key sites and just orient myself from there. I think in terms of "as the crow flies", point myself in the right direction and always make it there. It's rare to find a dead end street and most streets have a pattern. It helps that I'm never in a hurry and I like to explore.

I used to get lost in cities and a 5 minute trip to the shops would sometimes turn into a 3 hours walk. I used an app just the other day to mark my start point before walking somewhere unfamiliar. There are offline maps you can use if you have a smartphone.

As a child I was terrified to be away from my parents, especially my Mum. I hated it when my Mum would send me into another part of the shop to which she was in, and this is due to faceblindness.
However, as long as I stay in the boundaries of what I know, which is the rural areas of Wales I am fine. I love to explore, but the built up cities I avoid.

My sense of direction is really not good... and I usually do alot of travelling... makes for some fun situations to laugh about later, though they’re not fun to be in at the time!

I have the directional sense of a pigeon with a magnet strapped to its forehead. The wierdest thing is that I never get lost on the way to the fridge.....

You can't get lost if you follow the Mountain Goat rule of direction. Wherever you go, there you are!

My brother used to say as I was driving "Here we go on one of his famous shortcuts!" where I would be driving many miles to avoid buzy roads and the odd traffic jam.

Which way round would the magnet be?

Does it mean that your sense of direction is good or bad?

I have an appauling sense of direction. I was teaching English to engineers in Cisco, Israel and needed to go to the bathroom. I totally got lost in the sea of identical doors and carpeting. Eventually they sent out a search party. Following that one of the programmers would escort me to the bathroom, wait for me and escort me back.

When I had a car I would manage to get about by memorizing visual landmarks, but often got lost.

Dunno but when I used the north side I started speaking with a Scottish accent.

If you live in Scotland it is good. Yes?
