Would there be a clone of yourself around who is two days younger? Would you be able to meet yourself?

Seriously?  Do you want an in-depth discussion of quantum chronodynamics, or are you just writing a comic book?

Yeah, I went for a ride in the woods it would have worked out well, as I have 2 bikes. Also there were two lambs that had escaped and on my own I was only able to catch one of them and pop it back over the fence. That could have been quite a satisfying joint effort.

How about you New Time?

If you're interested in time and space, you may find Dr Shelly Kagan's lectures helpful.

This video discusses your very query.

I've watched and read a lot of sci-fi. If you're going back it better be for something pretty damn important!

The answer is ...YES!

You would meet the two-day-younger-version of yourself. Further...you could pull out some heat and gun down that two day younger version of yourself and kill him. And that ...would cause you to then magically disappear (because if the younger you dies then you would no longer exist).

But... um....

If that happened, and the two day younger you dies, then ...you wouldn't be able to make the time journey in the first place. Which would mean that wouldn't be able to kill your younger self...which would mean that your younger self would live on to become you...so that ...you WOULD make the time trip...which would mean that....you WOULD kill your younger self ...which would mean that....you would NOT be able to make the trip, which would mean...

But what if only your mind traveled back to your body from two days ago? Would your original body dissapear, making everyone wonder where you dissapeared off to, would the whole timeline cease to exist or would your original body simply be found dead in whatever place you made the leap in?

Which body do you man? The body of your present day self, or that of your two day younger self?

That's what I was explaining above.

If you killed your TDYS (two days younger self)then ...you wouldn't be dead....you would cease to exist altogether. Your TDYS would be dead.

But...

If you ceased to exist and he were dead then...that would prevent you from making the time trip in the first place. Which would stop your from killing your TDYS... so ...he would live, and you would continue to exist. Which would mean that you WOULD be able to make the time trip which would allow you to kill your TDYS which would mean that...well...that he would be dead, but he wouldn't be dead, and you would cease to exist, but you wouldn't cease to exist.

But what if you DIDNT kill your TDYS? Never shot him. And both of you coexisted. Then the world population would increase by one. There would be you, and there would be this near clone of yourself living simultaneously. And then ...two days later...your TDYS would make the same time trip you made, back to two days before, and he would meet you, and his own TDYS both living in that prior day, thus increasing the world population by two (by adding a second clone of you).

And then two days later your TDYS's TDYS would make that same time trip, and would then meet HIS TDYS, and so on. It would infinitely generate clones of yourself.

I thought the same but we would have to do housework together and spend alternate nights on the sofa.

You would have to find a way to share everything too, it could get a bit awkward.

as woody allen tartly observed, "two can live as cheaply as one- but it costs twice as much." nevertheless, one sacrifices for love.
