This is a terrifying development. Even if you're young and healthy people and those with mild to no symptoms this virus has the potential to clot your blood, which can lead to pulmonary embolisms, heart attacks, and strokes. Personally this had my anxiety going CRAZY.

See, I live with people who aren't the most responsible with social distancing and some who work. I'm afraid I could get this kind of clot, despite being 20 and healthy. Even worse I think my anxiety is causing me to have heart palpitations, chest pressure, and pins and needles on my chest. I ended up calling 911 on myself and the medic said I didn't have a heart attack. But I am getting those 3 symptoms and with this COVID development my anxiety is going nuts... and before this I never even HAD anxiety.

You won't get any reassuring lie from me. This virus is something that everyone should be afraid of, that the fear motivates them not into panic attacks but rather additional caution and taking social distancing f*****g seriously.

I've read it can cause symptoms similar to Kawasaki's disease in children too, another group previously believed to be free of risk.

Believe me, not looking for any lies here. The problem lies in this- some people who take social distancing seriously have no choice but to be around people who do not.

I bought a bottle of coated baby aspirin. If I get sick I'll take one daily until I'm better just in case. They make your platelets "less sticky" (layman's term) so less likely to clot. Unless you're a child (or rarely a young adult) they won't harm you.

Your safety is paramount, if someone around you is putting your life in danger you have every right to voice your concern about their behavior affecting your wellbeing.

I used to get bad anxiety when I was younger. Try this: stand in front of a mirror and rotate your arms in big circles for at least 20 seconds. And/or let your arms hang and shake them out, all floppy like. These are distraction methods. You can't help but laugh at yourself (you'll look pretty stupid doing it) but it also lessens the tension in your shoulders, allowing you to calm down. Whatever you can do to distract your brain will work - sing a nursery rhyme from when you were a kid, or a a few lines of a christmas carol. Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer worked for me.

This is the first time I've heard this. Now I'm scared too. I don't want to have a stroke or heart attack.

The above is quite a rare occurrence.

Most people who get Covid have a 2-3 week flu-type illness and recover. Like I did. It took another couple of weeks before I got back to full strength.

But enough people, but a distinct minority, do get serious illness so that the extreme measures were needed.

I've never been that prone to flu. The worst flu I ever got was March 2019, when I was practically laid up and couldn't even walk. But even that only lasted 4 days, and I was left with a bad cough but the cough didn't make me ill.

Does this mean my body has more chance of coping with coronavirus if I was to get it?

I've read about this, too. I'd advice to take very good care of your hygiene even at home if there are people who don't take good care of theirs also in the house. I had to visit my parents a while ago and since they tend to be a little unhygienic, dad especially, I washed my hands all the time... and my knuckles ended up drying up and bleeding. Oops.

There's lots of misinformation out there about this virus & it seems like every serious illness that's known to exist is getting pinned to this virus. If this virus really did cause all these serious illnesses, not a single person who catches the virus would survive.

Regular flu is different from this virus.

You are not immune from Covid by virtue of having the flu.

There are lots of unknowns. But it is known that most people who catch Covid, even people in “high-risk” groups, get a mild illness and don’t have to be hospitalized. Some don’t get any symptoms at all.

But there are still too many people who get severe symptoms to call this “just another flu.”

Wrong.  CoViD-19 may cause potentially fatal blood clots in asymptomatic people.  Just because a person has the CoViD-19 virus does not mean that they will automatically get blood clots; and just because a person has the CoViD-19 virus does not mean that they will show any symptoms, either.  Finally, a person who has the CoViD-19 virus is, by definition, unhealthy -- your subject line is in error.

It's not just another flu. It's not the flu at all. And even "regular" flu can be deadly even in otherwise healthy people. ALL diseases can be deadly. A cold? It can be deadly if you don't take care of yourself properly which many people don't.
A small cut? Let get it infected and you can go into septic shock, deadly. It's a wonder that we didn't all die a long time ago.

Call me a "Debbie Downer" or whatever, but it's the truth.

Wrong.  CoViD-19 is not always fatal.  Some people have natural resistance (some may already be immune).  Others have weakened immune systems or other underlying causes for the virus to be fatal to them.  The virus causes all these symptoms in some people, not all.

I am not saying I'm automatically immune to coronavirus and I'm not saying it's just another flu. I'm just saying that whenever I do get any virus it only lasts for a few days (less than a week) because my immune system is probably healthy and strong. So if I was to get this COVID-19 my body will probably be able to cope with and survive it.
