You don't shake someone's hand anymore you bump their elbow with your elbow.

This is more sanitary overall, I'd love it if that just stayed the new handshake. I hate touching peoples hands.

I've always thought touching people as a greeting unless a person is very close to them to be stupid. I would not adopt an elbow bump. I love that the handshake is dead.

Couldn't we temporarily adopt the asian-style slight bow instead? No touching involved, and would feel a whole lot less awkward and confected.

I would go for that. It's logical and makes perfect sense to me.
