i made this little doll girl out of clothes from other dolls, found fabric and polymer clay and i love her so much but most people who see her are creeped out by her.

I find most dolls creepy, but I can appreciate the effort and detail put into making them.

I don't.

Not visually. Not even intellectually.
And nothing 'beyond' visual.

Maybe it's the placing -- or where you tend to place it?
Because that's possible. There was a time I did that a lot on purpose just to passively startle or creep passersby.

Or maybe it's the usual 'uncanny-valley category instinct' most people tend to have, out in the open or done if stared long enough.

I've seen prettier dolls and actually felt creepy or heck 'sadder' about it.
Nah, I rather felt an amount of pride in that doll.

No, not particularly. Definitely not like the stereotypical horror movie creepy doll vibes or anything. It's a little odd maybe vs a typical children's doll, but not particularly creepy.

She looks like an ordinary chick, and not a fashion plate like a commercial Barbie, or Bratz, doll. So that makes her look different. But not like a horror movie doll.

Im ok with it.

It's cute, and impressive, it looks like a character that could star in a stop motion animation. I would be creeped out if I walked into a room and saw it on a shelf without expecting it, but that's my reaction to dolls in general.

Granted I often don’t find dolls “creepy” that most people do, so my opinion on the matter doesn’t necessarily mean much, but I don’t think so. I think it’s cool that you did that, and I think she looks particularly good in the second picture.

Not creepy.

But it seems to me you are influenced by Pearl - I see the doll as Pearl in human form

thanks all for your feedback!!

i think the scary thing to a lot of people was her placement, yes. not many people expect to see a doll on a kitchen table.

and her weight? she is solid polymer clay with a wire armature, so quite a bit more solid than your average barbie girl.

I like your work Kip.

You have a kind of Grayson Perry freedom about your pieces.

He would like your art too I am sure.
