Altering Active Discussions

I'm fairly new here and feel like I shouldn't weigh in yet but...here I go. Would it be possible to exclude hot button political topics from the list of "active discussions" that appears when you first enter WP?

There could still be multiple spaces somewhere here for all kinds of debates and such. If other feel like clambering into the PPP-Pit and brawling, by all means let 'em. But everybody wouldn't be confronted with a half dozen slabs of political red meat when they just stopped by to say hi. Speaking only for myself, I find the rancor exhausting, and am sad that it's the first thing I see.

I don't know how practical my proposal is, but I do feel it would change the atmosphere for the better. Especially since November and its insanity looms ever closer.

But if the "Hot-Button Political Topics" were  censored  excluded from the list of active discussions, most members would never see what the latest Trump screw-up is all about.

No, it is better we know than to try to sweep Trump's clown act under the proverbial rug.

I don't use active discussions, I click on boards instead like I will click on the GAD board or News & Current Events section. You will never see the Political topics if you don't click that place. Same as for News & Current Events.

I have a practical solution Romofan. I don't know how exactly you 'link' to Wrongplanet, but using this URL takes you directly to the site:

https://wrongplanet.net/forums/

Instead of:

https://wrongplanet.net, which shows the active discussions if that is what you are talking about.

My search engine takes me directly to the former link and not the later.
