Bad Therapist
Anybody ever have a sucky 'therapist'?'
There are some great therapists out there. But a bad one can set you back further than a good one can help you advance, in my humble opinion.
I was forced into a twice-a-month arrangement a few months ago, and I have never felt so vulnerable.
I felt worse about seeing him than I did about the rest of my perhaps crappy life (perhaps it helped...?)
He held a sheaf of papers with results of tests and such in a way that made it seem that he knew all about me, better than I knew myself...and he was not impressed.
His opinions were sanity itself, mine were flaky (and wasting valuable therapy time).
He was usually bored, occasionally aggressive. I can't see how he was allowed around vulnerable people.
After a few months I came to my senses and switched therapists. I felt so relieved!
I am grateful for Mental Health services, but the shrinks and pills can really mess up the unwary.
Protect yourselves at all times, like they tell the boxers.

There are a lot of incompetent therapists and some who are manipulative and cruel. I always knew they were wrong, but the pressure to have therapy, or if it is forced on you, it can be terribly destructive.
My blessing in life is that I am very stubborn.
I’m glad you were able to change therapists, Romofan.

My girlfriend had a bad therapist for a few years. The therapist was kinda a supervisor over the psychology department at the health center & the therapist & the receptionists did not work together well with scheduling. Cass's appointments were getting canceled at the last minute or she'd get there & she'd have to wait a while & then have a very short appointment. One time her appointment got bumped for someone who was not scheduled in advance like Cass was. Maybe it was an emergency but Cass kept feeling like she was a lower priority than most anything else going on. Cass is a very passive person & has a hard time standing up for herself & she kinda puts on a mask when she goes out so those could of been big reasons why she was getting screwed over. Cass believes she is worthless & being treated like her issues & needs don't matter reaffirms her negative beliefs. Plus Cass gets stressed easily having to go out & do things & even thou the health center was about a 5 minute walk down the road, going there kinda ruined Cass's whole day. Having to wait a long time & getting a short appointment felt like she wasted the day. Even if her appointment was canceled a day in advance, having the stress of making plans around that day so she could rest the day after &/or day before only to have the appointment canceled kinda wasted the day she scheduled for her appointment. Cass liked her therapist as a person & they might of been good friends under different circumstances but Cass didn't make much progress on her issues. By the time Cass talked about things from the last couple weeks since her last appointment, the appointment was over. It would of helped a lot if Cass would of had longer appointments that lasted the full time she was supposed to have as well as having more frequent appointments that would not get canceled by her therapist or by the receptionists. Cass didn't hear from her therapist for a while when she tried to schedule her last appointment & when she saw her psychiatrist at the health center, he told her that her therapist left to start a private practice. The therapist was wanting to have her own at some point & there was some restructuring at the health center so the therapist left then. Her leaving was kinda sudden. The therapist told Cass's psychiatrist to tell Cass that she could see her at her private practice but Cass never did. We were wanting to move & Cass didn't like the idea of having to go somewhere else that was at least a bit further away to see a therapist that didn't bother to call Cass herself & let her know anything. We did eventually move & by the time we got settled in & Cass was getting ready to try & start seeing a therapist in our new area, the COVID pandemic started & Cass doesn't like the idea of a telehealth appointment so she never tried seeing anyone else.
