I was at the pub last night and this guy I know was kicking the front doors to the pub he was banned from and getting agressive towards staff and customers.

As the staff were calling the police I mentioned to them that I knew who he was. The staff then asked me for my name.

Do you think now I am run the risk of being banned from the pub myself by association with him?

No I don't think so. Knowing who someone is doesn't mean you are best buddies and also you aren't responsible for what this guy's been up to.

You probably risk being called as a witness in case some court case emerges around it.

If the staff banned him, then wouldn't they already know who he is? You should be careful with volunteering information.

This :wtg: Somebody who was best buds with him would not volunteer info that could help his buddy get in trouble.

I don't think you risk being banned. He's the one who kicked open the doors, not you.

If the pub brings this guy to court, you will be called as a witness.

I imagine witness statement and statuary declaration should be enough. The cameras in the pub should pick up the man's identity.

Absolutely not, but you may be called to court as a witness.
