Are you someone who is confident enough to complain or are you someone who prefers to 'keep the peace?'.

I would say I'm the latter.

Depends on how far I've got with the meal. I've sent food back that was cold before today.

I generally will suffer through a lousy meal because I hate confrontation. I've only sent food back twice...and it was during the same meal. First I ordered a steak. Turns out it was marinated in something that tasted awful to me and there was no way I could eat it. Then I ordered fried chicken strips. They were obviously fried in the same oil that they used for frying fish...nasty! Then I left and ate at home.

Keep the peace... unless it's something really stupid.

I'm usually okay with employees having a bad day or making mistakes, but if there is something about a restaurant that just stands out as bad design... or poor management... I'm pretty unforgiving. I just stop going to those places.

One time I complained when my BLT didn't have tomatoes on it...

But without the tomatoes... it's only 2/3rds of a sandwich... I had to say something.

Any meal I've eaten as of late, either I've made it, or my parents have paid for it. So I'm in no position to complain, since I'd be eating ramen noodles otherwise...

If the food tastes bad I will say it is so, as Im brutally honest. Usually I can think of a way to do it in a joking manner to not hurt the cooks feelings, sometimes it doesnt come out too funny though.

That depends - if by "lousy" you mean the food is just bad, I keep the peace but don't come back.

But if by "lousy" you mean somebody made a mistake, I send it back. I am quite shy but in most circumstances I'm not afraid of a little confrontation.

I will send back meat that isn't cooked enough. I don't want to risk getting sick.

I would complain. I say exactly what's on my mind.

I complain or make loud and rude comments.

I don't say anything, because I'm afraid someone behind the scenes would otherwise spit in it or something. I've seen it happen when I worked in a restaurant. If it's really bad, I would probably send it back and just leave, never come back.

I wish i could complain, but I'm not very assertive.
I always say the meal was lovely, even when it's not.
And, like flismflop, I've heard of horrible things happen in restaurants when people have complained, I once knew a cook, who worked in an expensive restaurant and he would spit on the food and kick the steak around the urinals if customers were rude....there really is no need for this behaviour is there, I really went off him when he told me this.
