Need a car

Looking for Asian made cars. Does anyone have info on a really good used or new car? I currently have a 2006 Honda Civic with 150,000 miles on it. I love this car but the heater and air conditioner do not work. If this is a costly job, I'm better off with another new or used car. I don't want to pour money into my current car. I live in New Jersey and it's freezing in my car. In summer, I run the risk of heat stroke. Can anybody recommend a good car?

I would not buy a new car.I would buy a used honda or toyota that fits your budget.Even some toyotas can last for 300,000 miles or more.I would get a reputable mechanic not a dealership one to look any car over.I would try to pay for it with cash.I would look for a certified pre-owned possibly and also a original owner vehicle.I would try to buy from a private party and not a dealership if you wanted best bargain.Although you may need to get a new car because used cars have appreciated in value which is unheard of.I would look for a honda or toyota that is no younger than 5 years and has 100,000 miles or more that has good HVAC system and is in good mechanical condition for a good bargain. But I would buy a toyota corolla that has good electronics and HVAC system that is in great mechanical shape and has been taken care of in good working order that has 200,000 to 300,000 miles if you were short on cash because toyotas can last a long time.Be sure to run the CarFax.What is your car budget?

It could be as simple as the system needs to be re-gassed. Given that this is an older vehicle you probably won't suffer the same problem as the modern ones do; they have to be re-gassed regularly because the lubricant is in the gas... if you don't the compressor bearings fail which happened on Dad's van... £1200+ repair bill!
Might be worth visiting a mechanic and seeing what fixing it would cost.

If the heat is also out the problem isn't with the AC gas, that would only cause the cold to no longer get as cold.
It could be the blower motor that forces air through the system and that's under $100 to purchase at a wreckers and not very hard to replace on one's own.
