re: "game of give and take" - often it is in excess of 90% one or the other.

A lot of these classic "love songs" *sound* pretty or cool, but they sure do mention how sucky it actually is to be in love.

For example "I Will Always Love You" is really about the singer accepting the fact that she still loves the man who is with another woman. It's actually pretty sad. And people play this at their weddings.

"When a Man Loves A Woman" Seriously, who is this female dog he's in love with? He's sleeping out in the rain because she said that's where he ought to be. Should be more like "When a man has pneumonia".

"Every Breath You Take". Dude is seriously an obsessive stalker. Maybe that's why the band that played the song called themselves The Police, because they're out to arrest him.

Oh, now I see the problem. You're meant to communicate wants and not just wait. I needed you about 10 years ago, OP. Oh well again, at least that one showed devotion, so I'll wear it and try to avoid that self-hate. I figured something else out on my own though. You're also not meant to run away if the emotion is there and both sides want it (doesn't matter the reason for running).
