I have read about people with something called Body Integrity Identity Disorder. Some of them want to intentionally make themselves deaf. Others want to blind themselves or amputate one of their limbs.

I saw something like that a long time ago on Jerry Springer. Seriously.

There are some really strange disorders out there. I read these people call themselves transabled or something like that, as if transitioning to a disabled should be as acceptable as transitioning to a different gender.
