WHO: The signup sheet, up to date:

1. Ana54
Most interested in being a:
morgue attendant, construction laborer, construction designer (practical ideas and creativity-wise anyway), plumber, spokesperson, reporter/record keeper
Skills: menial stuff, and I can do anything right now but morgue attendant which I'm not qualified for yet, lol. EDIT: I'm sure I can learn all handy-stuff around the house too, either from one of you or out of a book... plumber uncluded. Sorry; I forgot to mention I'm not officially qualified for plumber either.

3. username88--"I LOVE driving, especially if its gonna be for something like this. So if people need a ride Ill be happy to give them one. That alone will take a lot of time but I think its worth the effort and money, just because I think it will be a fun thing to do! And I know Ill be able to do it cause I have a GPS system in my car Im not really good with speaking all the time but if I get the guts Ill probably be able to talk to a bank to get an account going to manage/store our funds. We can then all get jobs that will fit us to raise the funds. I dont have many "skills" but I have a rediculous collection of medical/other useful books in my room right now so if we need to look something up we should be set. I really have any supplies either.. But hopefully everything I can offer will be of some use."

11. ike-- "...ColdFusion programmer... potential source of income and if I can get my bills down, get the state off my back and am reasonably secure in my living/eating status, then I'd have no problems giving even a large portion of any money I earn back into the household. Aside from programming I'm also an illustrator. And I'm pretty sure I can learn most any kind of handy-manning that might be needed around the house. "
12. Kilroy
13. woodsman25-- "I know how to do responsible and sustanible logging, I like astronomy maby we can have a space program? I like building, maby I can do some carpentry?"
14. iamnotaparakeet-- Name: Ben Fournier

Position Requested: Chief Science Officer

Education: GED scoring 94th percentile
I have learned everything on my own as a self taught homeschooled student.
Taken 2 years of university level chemistry and physics and all mathematics up to and including some
calculus. Currently studying to be an Electronic Technician, but I love science in general.

Skills: Reading electronic schematics, analyzing physical situations, speaking Spanish, getting trapped in low
paying jobs. I can paint, landscape, do minor plumbing repairs, hook up any electronic equipment to any
requested configuration, some wiring, am familiar with most tools and power tools for construction.

Hobbies: Taking care of Parrots and learning their language, studying linguistics and etymology, target practice with
assault rifles, playing the piano, computer games, collecting electronic components for future use,
collecting textbooks, collecting classical music, chess and Scrabble.

Employment History: depressing.

References: my birds love me. Patricia, Picasso, Pavarotti, Peppercinious, and Petey will all say that I'm a good
human. Okay, so they think I'm a parakeet, but I'm not.

And CosmicCat's spirit, of course!

Other people who seem to want this but are not officially on the list:

LKL--emergency medical skills, good with horses and other animals, some experience fishing. "I can't stand hot weather, though, so places where the summer temperatures get above 80 degrees or so would put me out of the running. "

psych
computerlove
Cultus_Diabolus
Icarus_Falling
Aradford
Quirk-- will help with gardening
Belle77
Bodorus-- after he finishes school. Skills/interests: "organic agriculture (especially permaculture, and perennial plants for food)
classical music (play violin myself)
studies: chemical engineering (i'm into the food and microbiological science, i really like old conservation methods based on fermentation)
health and food in general (i make several lactic acid fermented drinks now at home)
i'm a die-hard do-it-yourselver
alternative building materials (however we restored some old houses, so i can do the things needed to repair or build a modern house)"

WHAT:an Aspergian commune
With: field with plants and trees where we grow fruits and vegetables
Perhaps a barn/ stable and pen and coops for animals
A building where we live--preferably a high-rise apartment complex (each person has a room and a bathroom) with ladder rungs all over it for easy escape, and rampwells instead of stairwells for easy access to people with disabilities
A satellite internet dish providing internet to everyone
A few hand-crank radios
An adequately-large first aid kit

We may also consider this:

WHERE: on a large cheap piece of land in Canada or the US. We can try to declare independance on it so we don't ahve to get involved in wars.
a possible notion would be purchasing a tract of wildlands in a fairly hands-off state such as Oregon. There's a lot of unused land in central/eastern Oregon that could probably be purchased cheaply.

Javid knows a guy that's selling a HUGE house on a lot of land for 3.2 mil, it's near a lake and fertile hunting grounds, so food and water would be fairly covered, and it's not too far from civilization so if emergencies came up help could be gotten. It has electricity and crappy internet, and is fairly "green" as these things go - he built it himself so he made sure everything was as efficient as possible.

WHEN: ASAP

WHY: Oh cummon, you know.

HOW:
we need to raise about $2000 to buy it... maybe more, as I don't know if that's the down payment or the full payment... we don't want a mortgage, that's too complicated. We should startt a nonprofit organization and enlist companies, corporations, celebrities and rich people to donate.

Also, TheMachine1 might buy a few acres within his budget range, but it's better to all be in one place... we need a very large, wide space and maybe we can all pitch in and buy a bit of it.

I, Ana54, plan to go up north to work at a very well-paying job for awhile, so I think I can buy a few acres. We can still buy the island, though. We need to buy the biggest cheapest piece of land there is, in a peaceful nation of course.

No obligations! You can come and go as you please, work at whatever job you want and stay in your room the whole time if you want. Star says Australia is the place due to the lenient government, the vast unoccupied land and the fact that Canada will be at war with Russia for land once the icecaps melt. :D

So here I am, the first official member of the commune:

1. Ana54

Soon to be followed by username88, MrMacPhisto and Star (not to be confused with Starr), I think.

Most utopian societies fail because not enough people are willing to work. I think the option of doing what you want is at odds with the reality of the world. Alot of life is doing what you must. But if there are lots of young women primed for mating on this commune I will do a large percent of the work myself. :)

Believe me, if you were thirsty, you would want to dig that well. If we were starving, we'd find fishing an adventure with a promise of food. We will enjoy it, because nobody is pushing us... it's up to us to push ourselves. Which is fun.

And by the way, I got this PM from username88...

The problem with me writing the letter is that I wont be able to summerise AS to make it so that they will understand every aspect of it.. I think what we need is someone who studied AS for a long time and is a really persuasive writer. I mean, Im a great writer but I can only do fiction stuff.. Im not that great with writing about non-fiction subjects like this.. Otherwise I would definetly do it. Plus Im not really good with talking about financial stuff, which would also probably have to be mentioned somewhere in the letter.

We need a person who is good at things like that!

Now does anyone have any land, houses (even a shed or shack), boats, vehicles, etc. that we could use as one site for gathering or transportation to a site for gathering? Of course, the main site will be the one in Australia. I confess that I have no assets myself. But we can ask companies, corporations and celebrities to donate and have fundraisers. :D

Lol I'm not so sure about that. John Howard has been known to send in the marines and make boat load of asylum seeker turn round.

I really don't know, then. How about Ireland or Scotland? Any other countries that either speak English or where you don't have to learn the language to become a citizen there?

Don't give up!

I can offer whatever skills I have to help you out if you'd like even if I don't join you because I think it's an excellent project, but I don't think I could join if it meant relocating outside of North America. All of my family is here and they're all I've got right now, them and my girlfriend who I know for a fact would not leave North America. It's hard enough for her to think about leaving RI.

What about thinking smaller, more international, and networked?

You dont have to learn Bulgarian to move to Bulgaria. It has beautiful scenery plus the land and everything is rediculously cheap. Same with Mexico, but its government is all messed up there so I doubt it would be done there.. And why cant it be somewhere easy like Canada or something?

Wow; thanks so much both of you!

Username88, now my first choise would be Bulgaria. Star? What do you think?

Malachi: I'm thinking ALSO smaller, more international and networked, where Aspergian centers/ Aspie safe houses are just as common as McDonald's joints. Everyone here who owns a house or land and agrees with this project can use their house as an Aspie house. :D Malachi, also, you can visit whenever you want and for as long as you want; you don't need to be a citizrn, so I'm putting you on the list, okay? :P

I'm going to have to see a business plan before I join. Since it appears we have a great excess of men I suggest we use this documentary as a business plan.
