For those who don't know, the Big Texan is world famous for the "Texas King", a 72-ounce steak. There is a contest where if you eat the entire meal (the steak, roll, baked potato, shrimp cocktail, ranch beans, and salad)--in one hour, it's free.

However, if you fail, it's $72.

There are signs for it as far east as Missouri.

I think I could handle the side dishes, but I don't even want to imagine what a 72 ounce steak would look like on a plate in front of me. 8O

I had to see this magical steak for myself, so I found its website: http://www.bigtexan.com/72ozlive.htm

All I can say is wow! 72 ounces. That is almost 4 1/2 pounds of steak. ;)

i'd pick the one that would be least likely to result in open heart surgery.

South by Southwest (abbreviated as SXSW) is a huge music/comedy festival in AUstin, held in March, I think.

I am leaning more toward the Big Texan myself.

Ever seen the movie The Great Outdoors? John Candy ate a 96-oz steak in that movie.

Supposedly, if you order your steak medium rare, you have the best chance of winning.

Okay. Being fully informed, I would choose the Big Texan. I wouldn't have to order the 72 ouncer, I could order a regular size steak and watch someone else act crazy. Besides, I think I would like Amarillo.

I'd shoot for the steak place. (Although I'm not taking on a 72 oz steak)
