Some people don’t want to be found.
Some are really missing.

My cousin (stunning, wealthy, beautiful California woman with kids) left her husband and children so she could live in an unheated garage and have another baby, with her drug dealer. Child services tried to find her and she took off. Last I heard they're both still missing. My aunt and uncle actually gave up trying to find her, or help.

My nephew has paranoid schizophrenia.
He did time in prison for attempting to stab his pregnant girlfriend at the dinner table.Just lunged across the table with the carving knife. Also on drugs.

My friend/fwb goes out of communication for weeks at a time with family and friends left wondering if he’s alive. First time that it was so long his mom called police and eventually when police made contact the message relayed was that he was fine and would reach out when he was ready. Such is life for struggling drug addicts that don’t want to be found when they’re in the depths of their addiction and ashamed to reach out.

Kinda wonder how my 43yo cousin is doing rn. She’s been on a bender for the last month or so. Again. Saw her chasing dragons at the overdose prevention society on Christmas Day and heard from her the next week asking if I’d pay $214 for a night’s hotel stay. Umm, no. There are shelters - not my problem you’re too messed up to trek across town.

Hardcore drugs are bad, mmmmkay?

I hate meth.I have an another family member that’s a recovering meth addict.Three years in prison because of it.
Now they are having trouble finding a job because they are a felony with a violent conviction. They found out who snitched on them and retaliated. They are in therapy now and trying to go straight but it’s a hard road.

Go for the old "Purloined Letter" solution and hide it in a morgue.

Awful .
Both his parents are clean and he had a good home life but a family history of severe mental illness. His half sister committed suicide because of severe depression, she was on the Dean’s list and was going to be a lawyer.Other half brother was also schizophrenic , attacked his brother , shot holes in his fathers truck ,and later committed suicide in the state hospital.
Relatives on my ex’s side.
My side tends to autism , anxiety and depression.A cousin diagnosed and possibly grandfather.
Bio-mom also possibly on spectrum.
Another cousin committed suicide by jumping off a bridge onto a train track and was squashed by the train.

I'm sorry to hear that.

We're all autistic / depressed on my dad's side (although they're all dead now), and my mum's side are more of the OCD / Neurotic type with a bit of eccentric and chatty Aspergers.

One suicide by my dad's dad who was reclusive and very depressed.

Would make a good dark novel.

Mine. I won't need it after I've uploaded my brain to a pocket calculator.

It was the dead of winter in New York state at three AM.

A Truck driver was waiting in line to cross the bridge. Noticed the city to the right of him was all dark, and then looked to his left and noticed that there was a park with trees and creek to the left of him. And in the dark park there was a guy running a wood chipping machine.

Hmmm...why is a guy...outdoors...in a public park...running a wood chipping machine on the coldest night of the year...at three AM. OH...my turn to cross the bridge.

He didnt think about it again for a long time. Until he became a witness in court.

The guy the truck driver was testifying about witnessing had taken his wife out of the deep freezer in the basement (so she was stiff as a board), and was chipping her up. And then he distributed the hard frozen pieces around the creek so the fishes would eat them up. I guess that the fish missed a few, and the police found them.
