Why didn't the post office just send the stuff back to me??
I'm currently looking for a job, I've been sending out resumes, making calls, have had a few interviews, but no one taking the bait so far.
Anyways, Tuesday I was sending out my resume along with demo reels to prospective employers using the automated mailing center at the post office. I sent these out the same way I have the past three times I sent out resumes and tapes.
So today in the mail there was a note from Mr. postman that said
The large parcels you recently sent which you mailed as packages should have been sent as parcels due to their shape. As a result, these packages will be mailed with the balance of the remaining postage due on delivery. Please refer to the attached sheet to when making future mailing decisions so you may avoid future troubles
First off... WHY WOULD THE POST OFFICE SEND IT OFF ANYWAYS AS POSTAGE DUE!! ! None of these places are gonna take them, and there all gonna come back to me - (if the post office doesn't hold them ransom) and I'll have to mail them off again and I'm gonna loose precious time.
Someone please tell me how this makes sense!

I'm assuming here that you are in the UK, if not then please correct me.
Friends of mine in the UK tell me that the UK postal system has recently changed. The old system just charged postal cost by weight but the new system charges according to size AND weight. It therefore costs more to send a large parcel or package than a small one. If you're confused at this point then good, so am I.
Given the above situation, coupled with the minimum wage drone they probably had behind the counter at your post office, it's possible that the postal clerk did not understand the new rules. Give it a few months to settle down or go to one of the large mail centers in the city, the folk there seemed to know what they were doing the last time I was there.
