The irony of loneliness and living in the city

In urban areas (like the city), there is a strong sense of loneliness because you feel you are just one PART of the crowd in the city.

Quite ironic really, even though you are in a crowd.

Makes sense if you think about it.

I’ve found this to be very true.
I think many authors have written about this reality.
I lived in a city apartment and pretty much never had the opportunity to interact with my neighbors. It’s seems that living in higher density environments makes the psychological walls much harder to penetrate. It’s understandable with the inevitable loss of privacy.
People who live further apart tend to seek out human contact, at least for NTs.

Emile Durkheim had quite a bit to say about the isolation of big cities.I wouldnt like living in a big city.
