I tried sending a lengthy private message on Saturday and it is still stuck in my outbox. This is not the first time messages have taken so long to be sent. Has this happened to anyone else? What can be done about it? I've already tried contacting Alex via email and haven't received a response yet.

They're not really 'stuck', they're just unread.

As far as I know, messages in the outbox are messages that have not yet been opened by the recipient. Those messages will be relocated to "Sent messages" once they've been opened.

So the message I sent will remain in my outbox until the recipient opens it? That doesn't make sense. Why wouldn't it go to the sent folder once they receive it?

Because that is how this website's software works -- you send a PM, and it sits in your outbox AND the recipient's inbox until the recipient opens or deletes it.  Then it moves to your 'Sent' box.

It does not have to make sense to anyone; it only has to work.

Yep the site's software is extremely outdated. It would make a lot more sense to say something like Unread Sent.

I've got 5 right now. They've been there for years.

When they're in your Outbox you can delete them without them being read.

So what you're saying is that you sent 5 messages to people who never even opened them for years and now they're still sitting in your outbox? :|

That is what he is saying.

People do not open their PMs for various reasons, not the least of which is they no longer log in due to being dead, banned, or busy with real life.

The more messages in your outbox, the cooler you are. :nerdy:
