I have recognized that my mother has a personality disorder and that's fine. I've not been diagnosed, but I am not one of the dogminded men. I believe I may have her personality disorder and I am 94% sure I have autism with 6% margin of error to account for possible brain damage being dead at birth. I'm just trying to figure out if this ever happens before I bring it up to my doctor and look stupid. I cant find a concrete answer on this. I identify with all the autistic forums and most of my friends are diagnosed autistic so that makes sense. There's just some weird stuff thrown in there and I have a low emotional range. It's hard to think too much about myself, but I need help. I have children and one is just like me. I need to help her.

It is indeed possible to have both a personality disorder and autism at the same time. I have known of people who have be diagnosed by doctor's with both and who receive treatment for both.

You can combine autism with ...anything you want. Its a buffet.

But seriously you can be "comorbid" and have autism with other conditions...both inborn conditions like dyslexia or Adhd, or aquired things like ptsd.

Ask the doc when you see him. He is the expert. You dont have to look smart for him. He wont judge you.

When my 1st psychiatrist said I had Aspergers she also said that I had Borderline Personality Disorder. While I did fit I the BPD label back then, I highly dobt that I fit it now due to working on myself, being on a good combo of psych meds, & moving out of my parents & in with my girlfriend.

Personality disorders are supposed to be lifelong and the symptoms ingrained in a persons personality. It is possible your medications are suppressing the symptoms of a personality disorder you may have and that your living circumstances have made the symptoms less apparent, also.
