Do dogs & cats really need flea medicine?

Dogs do, especially if it prevents heartworm and ticks. Cats need treatment if they have fleas, which is usually when you first get them as kittens or if they spend a lot of time outdoors. Otherwise kittens just need three rounds of deworming meds.

I wouldn't use commercial flea meds on any pet but especially not a cat. They're highly toxic.

I would always check with a vet and use their product.
