Molly was 18, and she was deaf and blind (and I think she'd had a couple of minor strokes in the days leading up to her death, too). Near the end she was really thin, weak (she was wobbling all over the place the few times she tried to walk anywhere), and not interested in eating or drinking. If we hadn't forced the issue, I really think she'd have just slipped away by herself.

We're burying her in the garden today, and our house will be so much quieter without her yowling for milk and food all the time. I didn't think I'd miss her this much, but now there are no animals in the house at all, and it really means the end of an era :(

I'm sorry to hear this. It can be pretty devastating to lose a pet.

ya, u r loosing a member of the family. 18 years is a very good run tho! My parakeet had to be put down when I was 9 and that bird had a stroke, could not move half of its body. I was pretty young and so I wanted to play with it, not knowing of course I was making it worse, i felt so sad for days.

Im very sorry Mr. Sinister, i know what it is like

I feel for you....my Sunny Sleepy was 18 and she could not scratch herself
or wash herself because of paralysis in her lower spine. Her markings kind
of blended in with the ground, and she liked to sunbathe in an area of the
property that was used for parking. I was so afraid she would get run over.
She would never have been able to get out of the way fast enough. (She was
NOT an inside cat) I did NOT want to have that kind of memory of her. I cried
for days, and miss her still, and it has been over two years. I do have pictures,
which bring smiles and tears. If I ever figure out how to post an old snapshot
on here I will do that. She had incredible markings. She was one cool kitty.

I am very sorry to hear this.

We had one the same age who had to be put to sleep a couple of years ago and I howled for days afterwards.

I hope you have lots of nice pics and memories though.

so sorry. We have two cats of our own and they are both getting up in age. I know one day it will come and I dread it (even though they can be quite annoying at times). They were our children before we had the boys.

Over the past three years I have lost three cats (Missy-20, Buster-14, and Cali-15), and my sister has lost one (Kirby-14). We also lost our dog Skipper who was 19 when I was in college. Over hoilday break I snuggled him as much as I could, because I knew he was going soon and I asked him to just last until I got back for summer break. He didn't make it. It is difficult, because they really are a part of your family.

I am sorry for your loss.

I can understand I have a 20 year old dog that is close to the end of the road. Much of my schedule revolves around taking care of him. His biggest problem is standing from a laying postion so if he must get up are fall I need to be there to help him up. If he falls on his left side he will struggle endlessly.

Sorry about your cat. I always had ours buried in our garden, along with my gerbils and stick insects even.
But it is good she had a nice, long life.

(((Mr. Sinister)))

Molly was a very special cat to you, as my Samantha was to me. My Samantha lived to be 20. When you have an animal for a long time, as we have, it leaves a major hole in our lives when they leave us.

I'm so sorry for you, and for anyone who loses a pet. I wouldn't have made it through so many dark times without the love and companionship of my cat, and I know many of you can relate. But it's wonderful that Molly had a nice, long life - I know you have lots of good memories.

I am sorry you lost your cat sinister :(
When my dog died we kept the ashes. Its nice to know part of them is still "there" for you to visit, sad though.

I cant imagine living in a house without other animals.
