poor cats, like people ignoring their pets unless the push the right buttons, like hello cats already developed a whole meow language to talk to people, some people say cats don't meow at each other...but they do they are just not as loud as they do for people unless its feral cats out in the parking lot screaming at each other but thats for fights with other cats.
I just sometimes see on reddit a animal buttons subreddit, i kind of want to report it but not sure it would do anything. But I am just worried this animal button trend might be contributing to animal neglect and animal abuse and idk some well-meaning people could fall into it and then potentially not recognize normal signs of when a pet is having health issues. LIke animal buttons were cute when it was just a silly trend, but I feel some people are taking it too seriously and actually expecting their animals to for sure use the buttons if they need to communicate. I juust dread the day of a veternarian saying something like 'this poor dog died from an infected uterus and dehydration that wasn't detected in time, if only it had used the right buttons to notify its owner in time that it was dehydrated and had an infection ...poor dog but it should have used the button for uterus infection, duh, and maybe this wouldn't have happened. Poor dog should have known better than not pushing the right buttons, how could a pet owner possibly know the pet they ignore is sick? That pet should have known better than not knowing english or how to use buttons to express their thoughts about having a uterus infection in their owners language.
Like really, there are people so dumb the looked past oh buttons are kind of cute, and went straight to well if my cat doesn't push the button for water or food he's good till I eventually remember, like dude its your pet cat....you have to make sure you take care of your cat not put some buttons on the floor and ask reddit if you should listen to the buttons or actually try and work out what your cat wants and if its something like its thirsty and has finally drank the last dregs of the water you begrudgingly refilled last Tuesday after neglecting the litter box and your cat should at least wait till tommorow late afternoon after you finally wake up from your drunken video game night hangover....the cat has been thisrty since two days ago and you would have refilled his water if only he had told you with the buttons. The knocking over empty glasses, interrupting your video game, meowing at you to get attention, rubbing up on you meant nothing cause he didn't use the buttons to say 'hey man pet your cat'. Or 'hey I am dying of dyhydration' well stupid cat you should have just told the owner with your buttons you were dying of dehydration, why didn't you use your buttons.
Maybe I'm too too paranoid, but it was just on that subreddit...some people seemed to be taking it to the level of litterallly only responding to their pets. If they use buttons to say things like litter box, bird, poop and ask what does litter box/bird/poop mean. I didn't even pet my cat after he said that, what does it mean....I really need to stop my cat being inappropriate, can't believe he said poop. LIke people can't really be this stupid can they?

Well lucky for you, I didn't try to look into it the algorithm just put posts from it on my feed, and because I looked at one now I see crap from that subreddit on my feed all the time. But yeah it just pisses me off....like cats tell you what they need if you pay attention....they don't understand freaking buttons that say a word when they press it. LIke earth to human if your cat is just keeping pushing them, you probably have taught the cat the only way to get you to pay attention is to frantically push buttons....and then when the person goes away to the other room, and closes the door to look up 'what does poop, food, coffee mean?' when the cat is literally just trying to get some pets and affection, or like what if there does end up being an emergency are you going to ignore your cat acting sick and lethargic becasue...'why didn't the cat push the correct button to tell me it was sick....duuuuuh.
Not directing it at you, just mad about that there are actually people that exist who actually think animals can push buttons that say words to communicate full sentences of what they want. sentences like poop, cofee. cracker and people literally writing paragraphs of what that persons cat might mean, when it probably just wants you to pet it and is literally purring in your lap. LIke dude, the cat wants you to put down your phone and give snuggles you don't need buttons for that.

I have never heard of cat buttons. At first I thought it was some cutesy name for the nipples on cats or maybe buttons with pictures of cats on them.
Or maybe it's like when people say when someone just seems to know how to annoy them, "That person really knows how to push my buttons", and either they know what really bothers their cat, like touching their belly or placing cucumbers on the floor, which scares the cat because it looks like a snake to them. And people shouldn't be doing that to their cats, they think it's funny but it's mean.
I discovered an actual subreddit called Airplane Ears, which shows pictures of animals with their ears sticking out to the sides like wings on an airplane. Most of the pictures are of cats but a few are of dogs and maybe other animals. Horses, maybe?

I thought this thread was gonna be about button pins people wear that have pix of cats on them. Plenty of cat lovers are majorly obsessed with having lots of cat themed stuff but the cat buttons this thread is about is even weirder.
