I'm feeling really happy right now and just wanted to tell someone! :D

I had a friend call to ask me about her work schedule.

I'M SO HAPPY! I just want to dance, jump around the house!

I've mentioned this before... I almost ruined our friendship and now it seems as though we might be back to being friends again.

This is great because I really like and respect her and people like her are not easy to find, let alone have a relationship like this with... at least for someone like me.

This may seem a bit overboard for a 'friendship', but I have my reasons...

-I tend to hold my close friends close to my heart and so it's hard on me, (or I'm hard on me  ), when I have done something I think will drive this kind of friend away for good.

-I'm in sort of a vulnerable place right now with a divorce, dealing with personal issues (ADD, gender questions from WAY back, etc.), and raising a teenage daughter (who is the perfect kid/person and has never been difficult to deal with or be around... she's proud to be a "Geek", an individual, and I totally respect that!).

-I'm lonely... because of the break-up of my family. My wife and daughter were about the only people I associated with for the last 17 years. I have always enjoyed talking with this friend, listening to her, just being around her. I know this may sound like I have a crush on her, but all I really want right now is to be friends (I know she is not interested in me other than as a friend and that is okay with me). Plus, with my indecision about the gender issue, my ADD/HD, and my lack of a 'career' with which to support a family; I'm not really marketable material for dating and the like. I haven't even been intimate with a woman for 4 or 5 years so maybe I'll just be asexual from now on... yuck... :(

OH... THE PHONE CALL.. yeah, sorry about straying there

She also asked about some kittens I have in my backyard that I am considering adopting (without the mother's approval I'm sure).
This friend is an animal lover and always seems to take careful steps when adopting a pet. I figured she would be a valuable resource for information on pets, since I've always been uncomfortable with the idea of being responsible for a little animal... or a big one.

Anyway, it's just so nice to hear her voice in the context of a friendly chat.
I don't get many calls... or any?... from people who don't want me to buy something, take a poll on some political thing, remind me that I was supposed to be at __________ a half hour ago and would now have to reschedule, etc. (or if it's work... "Mark, did you forget you were on the schedule for 10 o'clock today? Can you please come in as soon as possible or call us? ).

Am I pathetic or what!?

I realize that in many ways I am, for lack of a better term, child-like in my enthusiasm for certain things and in how I react to things sometimes.
I wouldn't have it any other way, though, because that's how I get through life smiling as much as I do.
Without it... well, let's just say that at 47y.o., I can't imagine having lived this long.

I was so happy when my shrink pronounced me majorly depressed! FINALLY someone understood the gravity of my situation!

Thanks Trigger11

Ana54, happy but poignant?
I've had short bouts of being depressed (one that almost pushed me too far), but your situation is probably different from those.

I hope you have some days when happiness is related to a more uplifting events! :D

I have to say, I LOVE being this way, because my 'highs' are so much better than the highs 'normal' folks seem to get... especially after they become adults
:D

Hey I know what you mean. Nearly every day I find something, usually small and seemingly meaningless to most people, that makes me say "that totally made my day!" to someone, and I let that fully cheer me up, makes me feel great... it's weird.

Having my cats sit on my lap and purr makes me feel good.
