I was speaking with my bf's dad and he asked if I went running (he knows I'm trying to take up running to get in shape). I told him how I had went running near my house, and could tell my speed was improving. I also mentioned cutting my time down to 21 minutes, from 36, when I was running a little farther than I have done in the past..

I just forgot to tell him that there is a walking component involved when I run at my house, as opposed to the track, as some of the streets are just too steep to run on (one street is kind of too steep to walk on too but I need to take it to get to where its relative flat). This last time I didn't need to stop and catch my breath at all, and since I didn't have any water I wasn't taking time to drink it either.

lol, He probably thinks I just mixed up the times it takes me or something. No one could cut 15 minutes off their running time in just a few weeks. Either that or he thinks I'm completely insane. I'll have to clarify next time I speak to him.

How do you know he didn't believe you?

Because of his reaction. He was like, "I think you must have made a wrong turn somewhere."

And of course, because no one would believe that you could cut off 15 minutes of time just like that

Stuff like this happens to me, all you can do is feel weird about it for a little while and go on.

Hey, good job on the running!

I'm still a sometimes runner, sometimes do... sometimes don't.

Wish I had a running partner so I would be more consistent.

I'd believe it. When you start some new exercise program like that the initial progress is very fast and as it slows down that means you are getting better and better.

Stuff like this has happened to me hundreds if not thousands of times! I, too, feel a little wierd about it and go on, but sometimes I used to remember these little moments of chagrin years later and wallow in humiliation. I don't anymore. :)

I manage to run 5 km with an altitude change of about 50 meters in about 23:30 minutes.
When I started out, it took me about 40 minutes.
So, yeah, it's no biggie.
One you start working out, you get better and better results pretty fast.
