I'm strange...I like physical pain.

Sometimes I will create physical pain for myself because it feels great.
I like the feeling of walking on a sore ankle...just so it feels even worse.
I like to pinch my skin on my arm as hard as I can for the tingle feeling as it goes numb.
I like to hit my head with my hand just to feel my head throb.

Yes...this does sound crazy I know,
but I can't help liking pain.

Why is this?

Does it distract you from emotional pain?

Some sort of innate masochism? I dunno. You ever talk to a psychiatrist or neurologist about this?

I have to admit that I have self harmed in the past to distract myself from emotional pain. But this is not for that reason and that is why I am confused :?

I have not talked to them about this as I didn't think it was relevant. It is not "typical self injury" to distract myself from emotional pain...but more like a feeling that pain feels great.

I know. Masochism means enjoyment of pain. Not distraction or self-punishment through self-harm.

Oh ok then...well I guess that means I am more of a mess than I thought. Ohwell.

You're no more sick and demented than the rest of us... One thing I've realized is that pretty much everyone is f***ed up in their own special way. Enjoy yourself.

It doesn't sound crazy different people like different things I am like that at times. I just don' think I experience pain quite the same way other people do at times it just feels right almost making me laugh like it tickles. I prefer blunt force like a hammer to the knee or leg. Their is no emotional side of it for me I just like the feeling of it

I've found that I like stinging pains, like whipping and slapping. I also enjoyed a bee sting a while back.

Endorphin rush. I punch myself in the calf.

I wouldn't say I'm masochistic at all. Also we feel pain differently. There is different receptor there are different ways to cause pain.

It someone kicks me in the shin with edge of their boot, it not really painful. It is supposed to make you step back but I don't feel it that strongly. But if they were to scrape it along my shin I would feel it.

Heat receptors are known to block out pain receptors from pain in damaged tissue such as the intestine or womb. I actually prefer a burning hot sensation to abdominal pain. So I hold one of the chemical heat pads for pet against my abdomen, if I have something like gastroenteritis.

Endorphin rush.

It's why people get so many Tattoos or a reason. Spanking, same thing.

When or if it evolves into something else. Let's say cutting or burning, it can be helped, you just need to will to change it. And know you aren't alone. That you aren't the first. SI is well documented and there are good Doctors that can help you sort through it. You don't have to do this all by yourself.
